Continental Divide Trail Section 8: Lima, Montana - Old Faithful, Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming.

This section will be remembered for all the times I had to run on a ridge from a thunderstorm or shelter from a deluge. A few large milestones as well like crossing into Wyoming, hitting 1000 miles, entering Yellowstone National Park, or embracing the Old Faithful Lodge breakfast buffet. This was a transitional part of the trail and it felt brand new.

Continental Divide Trail Section 7: Leadore, Idaho - Lima, Montana.

This section was filled with ridge line walks, cow herds, wildfire smoke, and steep ascents/descents. Water was a bit more scarce and took some planning around. For some unknown reason, I ended up getting a 3-day wave of nausea that prevented eating other than the bare minimum which forced a zero day in Lima, Montana. Oh nooo a day in bed? 🥰

Continental Divide Trail Section 6: Darby, Montana - Leadore, Idaho.

This section was longer and tougher than I originally anticipated. At times the steep climbs mixed in with heat and wildfire smoke seemed to slow my pace to a crawl. I took an extra day to complete this one, so always bring a little extra food! There was a perfect mix of high Rocky Mountain tops, perfect lakes, and open vistas over cow country that there was always something to look at!
