Looking to explore Way Downeast? Download our NEW 28-mile printable Eastern Section Trail map!

Hop on the trail in Machias and enjoy scenic ocean and river vistas along the Machias Bay and East Machias River. Stop in East Machias for a snack and head north to the most remote section of the Sunrise Trail. Spot wildlife like bobcats, deer, and the occasional turtle along the trail. Turn off and explore Rocky Lake Public Land or Patrick Lake. Stop at the Dennysville Clubhouse (open 24/7) for their vending machines and picnic area. Turn around at Ayer’s Junction at the end of the Sunrise Trail or continue along the Dennysville ATV Club maintained ATV trail to Perry!

Beyond the Sunrise Trail you can visit the Moosehorn Wildlife Refuge, Cutler Coast Public Land, or Quoddy Head State Park for breathtaking hiking opportunities. Or make your way to the historic towns of Eastport or Lubec!

Just realized I haven't posted an update for awhile.
UPDATE: If you have ever built a house...you know some parts go very quickly and some parts take more time....but we are gaining!
We are trying to get the duplex finished up. We have gotten through the sheetrock, mudding, taping, sanding and painting! Floors are down, cupboards are being installed, electricity is being finished up this week. Shopping for furniture and accessories.
Septic system got held up for a couple of weeks now due to equipment repairs but that will be ready to roll very soon.
