My 2025 spring season on the Susquehanna is complete. Crazy how fast the time goes when things are in full swing. Apologize for not posting more but when the schedule is full, I think it's best to stay off the socials and focus on providing the best experience possible for our customers.
I'm getting ready to hop in the truck this morning and make the drive for the northern swing but the rest of the Susquehanna Smallmouth Guides team will continue to put customers on quality Fish while I'm gone. We have a new addition to the crew, a guide with 30 years experience that we are proud to have join in on the fun. More on that to come in the future. To All my friends in the PA, stay classy and I'll see you in a few weeks!
- Joe
Ps: I will explain the 2025 rod switch asap.

Spring season as well underway. Lots of Smallies to go round. Some days are definitely better than others, but we always make the best of it and catch fish! The majority of the damage has been done with finesse Trd baits, Swimbaits, Chatterbaits and .usa jerk baits.

It’s shaping up to be one of the busiest season so far. A lot of boat traffic. Like to remind everybody to try your best to be conscious of boat etiquette. Good rule of thumb is treat people how you would want to be treated. That means don’t pull up next to somebody and cast over their lines or run your boat over fish that someone else is set up on unless you really want to play that game.

More to come on this, but I am switching some things up in the tackle department this year and will be looking to unload some fishing rods in the near future. I have a bunch of crank bait rods, right off the bat. This is the season for it. Message me if interested.

Fun week on the river. Some high times and some slow times, but quality fish caught. Had our first smallmouth - musky double up, at least to the best of my memory 🤣
7 smallies 20
inches or longer and another junior Musky.
River is starting to look pretty nice after the last Highwater event. Hopefully the rain forecasted doesn't change that.

Musky! First one of the year.. On a finesse TRD bait. Funny story, we got the fish in the net and it head shook, cut through the net with its sharp teeth and flopped back in the river 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️ With the line going through the net 🤣🤣🤣 Hard to believe we boated it after that mess.

Our 2025 guiding season is off to a good start. No monsters yet, but every fish appears healthy and in tiptop shape ready for spring. My schedule(Joe Raymond) is jammed until June but we have 5 guides highly qualified guides with scattered availability through the spring. Don’t wait until the last minute to schedule your trip. Spring is always the biggest this time of the year. If you would like to get out fishing with me this spring, feel free to reach out as there’s always the chance of a random cancellation.

This years ending is extra special. Hard to believe it’s been a decade already. I’m going cut most the long-winded speech but must say a few things.
What a wild ride it’s been. So many memories made on all the wild adventures that have taken place over the past 10 years. There are many more pictures that should be added to this, but ran out of space.
Huge thank you to everyone involved, the best customers, friends, sponsors, and associate guides!
There’s no telling what’s in store for the next 10 years but well stick to our path and keep the legacy going 🤘

Happy new year everyone!
Cheers to 2025 🍻

2024 was a good year for big smallies coming out of the Susquehanna River. Susquehanna smallmouth guide, George DeFrehn caught this hog @ 5.78lbs while fishing with his father this past Fall. What a beast! Over the years, George has caught several smallmouth flirting with 6 pounds out of the Susquehanna River. George has also put clients on Fish of this caliber. Very cool to see.
