🎬 Hey film buffs! Did you know that not one, but THREE Spielberg movies have scenes filmed in Connecticut? And you can visit each location today!

Released in 2008, Indiana Jones and The Kingdom of The Crystal Skull was the long-awaited revival of everyone's favorite adventurous archaeologist. The action-packed motorcycle chase scene was famously filmed in New Haven, CT around the Yale University campus. Production crews swapped out modern street signs, built period accurate storefronts, and dressed extras in realistic clothes to bring New Haven back to 1957 ✨️

But that's not all - a brief scene of Indy arriving on a steam train was filmed in none other than Essex, CT as well! 🚂

🍂 Fall is in full swing in Connecticut, and this weekend brings everything from pumpkin festivals and scarecrow spotting to hands-on Halloween fun and live music by the lake! Here's what's happening:

🧪 Spooktacular at the Connecticut Science Center – Hartford (Sunday)
Get ready for a science-filled Halloween celebration! The Connecticut Science Center and CT Kids Passport are teaming up for a building-wide trick-or-treat trail featuring treats, giveaways, samples, activities, mini pumpkins, and festive surprises. Come in costume and enjoy all the hands-on science fun along the way!

🌾 Scarecrows on Main – Old Wethersfield (All October)
More than 170 scarecrows are popping up along Main Street in Old Wethersfield! Take a stroll through this historic district to see the creative displays, then stop by local shops, explore a museum, or grab lunch and a sweet treat. It’s the perfect excuse for a scenic fall outing.

🎃 Prospect Pumpkin Festival – Prospect (Tomorrow)
The annual Prospect Pumpkin Festival is bringing the community together for an evening of fall fun! Expect food vendors, community booths, kids’ activities, music, entertainment, and plenty of pumpkin-themed festivities. Don’t miss the parade, where participants show off decorated vehicles, floats, and costumes!

🎶 Farmington Valley Acoustic Festival – Farmington (Saturday, October 18)
Spend a fall day enjoying live music against the colorful backdrop of Dunning Lake at Winding Trails! The 11th annual festival features ten performers across two stages, including Howley, House of Hamill, Beg, Steal, or Borrow, and the Clement Brothers. There’ll also be a b**r garden with free samples from more than 15 Connecticut breweries while supplies last, plus food trucks and local vendors. The festival runs from 11 a.m. to sunset, rain or shine.

🎡 Harwinton Fair (October 2–4) – Harwinton, CT

The Harwinton Fair celebrates its 169th year this weekend! Enjoy live music, comedy shows, antique tractor pulls, agricultural displays, contests like woodchopping and hay bale tossing, kids’ activities, games, and plenty of classic fair food.

🐴 Portland Agricultural Fair (October 2–4) – Portland, CT

The 26th annual Portland Agricultural Fair is back tonight through Sunday! Enjoy carnival rides, a petting zoo with pony rides, acrobat performances, live music and dance, truck pulls, a hay bale toss, and plenty of family-friendly fun.
