We are trying to run tours until this upcoming weekend, first weekend of December, weather permitting.

After a winter break we plan on opening early April which is when we will be seeing the largest haulout of seals!!

A shark was spotted devouring a gray seal off of Monomoy Island, ripping out the seal’s lower back and much of the prey’s side, according to a Cape Cod seal cruise operator.

Yesterday on our seal cruise we happened to be at the right place at the right time and witnessed a shark predation of a gray seal! Bad day to be a seal, but a great day to be a great white!

It happened so fast, we weren’t able to get a photo of the shark but the following pictures show the aftermath. After the attack the gray seal, with his lower back and much of his side missing, was able to swim quickly to the shore. He even was able to become fully airborne at times on his swim in!

At the shoreline, he succumbed to his wounds and the haulout above him was completely unfazed by the interaction. The haulout was mainly gray seals but there were a number of harbor seals as well.

All of this happened off of the southern point Monomoy Island.

A short clip of some seals we saw resting and playing on the beach today. They were quite vocal today! We are seeing more seals in the area daily as many return to the Cape from their summer stay up north. We plan on running through November so please join us for a cruise!
