This!🦏 This is why Luxury with Heart is our travel philosophy. We are in awe of Care for Wild Rhino Sanctuary's hard work and dedication to rhino rescue and we're honored to share their efforts with our clients. If this photo and story of Hercules makes you smile, the opportunity to witness the careful nurturing and rehabilitation of a baby rhino in person will make your heart sing. Hercules Reaches New Milestone Side by Side with Petronel and Phil the Sheep!
Day 192 of Hercules’ rehabilitation, and this brave little rhino calf has reached another important milestone in his incredible journey of recovery.
Petronel, Hercules, and his friend Phil the sheep walked from ICU to the main rehabilitation facility. The Care for Wild team have been working daily on his endurance, strength, and mobility—slowly building up his walks in preparation for this big step.
Moving from the ICU means he’ll now be closer to the other rhinos, with more space to increase his exercise and new sights, smells and sounds to provide fantastic mental stimulation for this inquisitive young calf. He will of course continue to receive veterinary care and treatment, physiotherapy for his legs, and round-the-clock milk feeds as part of his ongoing rehabilitation and care. We are very proud of this special calf.
Thank you so much to everyone who asks about him and to all those supporting him. Thank you also to veterinarians Dr Cobus Raath, Dr Chris Smith and Dr Hayden Cuthill for their knowledge, expertise and unwavering support.
