Not only do we have amazing travelers working on the Rodeo this evening, but we have had travelers teaming together work around the houses of our community members who need the help for donations for the program outstanding balance that we owe for our amazing trip that we just got back from. Led by Carrie ïżŒthis morning, this group of boys raked and pulled a lot of ivy and weeds from the beds and then laid a bunch of mulch for 4 hours. Thank goodness for good food and a cool down in our very own lake. Thank you to The Watson’s for hiring our amazing travelers to come do this work and giving them the opportunity to pay down our balance! ïżŒ

If you have made of Yardwork, pressure washing, cleaning, painting, or anything in between these kids are rock stars willing to work using any funds they would get to put down on our balance due. Proud of these kids and understatement! ïżŒ

You might see some familiar faces tonight helping to park cars at the Cutworm’s Corral Agricultural Scholarship Rodeo right here in Hayesville (address below so come support the rodeo). Global Studies Annual Independent Experiential Learning Trip Abroad Travelers will be there to not only be helping hands and car parkers, but to share about the outcome of their amazing educational trip this past June. Thank you to Karyn Woody for offering this to us tonight. If you see these kids there passing out flyers, and working hard to procure the funds to finish paying off the trip balance feel free to ask some questions
they’d talk your ear off for days about their experiences. 🌍Love our community!

This is 100% worth the watch, but it is absolutely going to take about five minutes of each of your time. If you don’t have 5 minutes to watch it, start at 4 minutes and enjoy. This was a full circle human global connection at its finest for all of us. At the end of this I was crying, the staff were crying, and the craftsman was crying. This will explain the surprise that occurred for me at Pompeii and the gifted surprise for all my travelers too (ask my travelers about their red Pompei glass blown piece so they came home with 😉).

Part 2 of 2 Our last day
Day 9 of Italy and Greece, June 16, (Pictures of the visit and tour of the Athens National Archaeological Museum and amazing dinning experiences mixed with a few pockets of time in the evening we took to relax): This was a favorite as this museum is home to some of the most important artifacts from a variety of locations and eras, the museum today is considered one of the world’s finest. The museum’s collections span thousands of years, dating all the way back to the Neolithic Era (6800-3000 BC). While it would be impossible to list all that the museum has to offer, highlights include items from Thessaly, Mycenae and the island of Thira (Santorini), along with an unrivaled amount of sculpture, pottery and jewelry.

Part 1 of 2 Our last day
Day 9 of Italy and Greece, June 16, (Pictures of the changing of the guards at Parliament, Athens Parthenon, Acropolis, Temple of Athena Nike, Omonoia Square, Syntagma Square, 2004 Olympic site). Athens has developed from the birthplace of democracy. It was incredible to see where so many minds came together who had such a lasting impact on our country still today, and so many other counties throughout the world past and present. The Parthenon was awe-inspiring as were the other building ruins!

We went to the city center of Athens today to see the Parliament building and the British-style changing of the guards ceremony. The students observed some military fashion as the Greek guards wore white skirts, head scarves, and shoes and knee bands adorned with pom-poms.

Part 2 of 2 of Day 8 of Italy and Greece, June 16, (Pictures of Delphi only-the evening in Athens will be next post ): Food highlights have includeded: Moussaka (Greek lasagna with eggs ant), Souvlaki (chicken kabob), Octopus, Whole Fish, Olives from the local groves, baklava, stuffed eggplants and grape leaves, and so many other amazing food items.

Delphi was so profoundly amazing it cannot be properly conveyed with words. From the Archaeological Site at Delphi, the stunning views, the history, the lore, the people we found ourselves immersed in the absolute best way! Walking the impressive ruins at Delphi, which the Greeks considered the center of the world was so very inspiring. Seeing within the depths of the Temple of Apollo and the view from Mount Parnassus (over 8000 feet high) are moments these kids will never forget and will have a tremendous lasting impact.

We are not headed on to Athens. Athens is one of the oldest and greatest cities of Western Civilization, with a recorded history that extends back 3,400 years. During the Classical Era, Athens was a center for the arts, learning, and philosophy. It was the home of Plato's Academy and Aristotle's Lyceum. Modern Athens is still a vibrant city with a rich culture that takes great pride in its long and complex history.

THANK YOU ALL FOR HELPING MAKE THIS HAPPEN! You did not just give them a trip, you gave them a genuine world learning opportunity!!
