Liberty Bell Pool, located in FDR State Park in Pine Mountain, Georgia is the state’s largest entirely spring-fed pool. This unique pool holds 500,000 gallons of clear, cold water, averaging between 50-60 degrees. It is fed by natural mountain springs which send fresh water into the pool each day. The cool water offers a refreshing break from Georgia’s summer heat. The name Liberty Bell comes from the bell shape of the pool, which features stonework dating back to the late 1930s. The pool was was built using local Hollis Quartzite stone. It is open seasonally, from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day, 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Visitors can also enjoy the rest of F.D.R. State Park, including the famous Dowdell’s K**b. The park features more than 40 miles of trails, small waterfalls, a lake for fishing, camp sites, cottages, and horseback riding.
