The community has also joined together to provide improvements to the softball field for the Baskett Recreation League. Charles Alexander Park is a beautiful park located in downtown Smithmills on 1.13 acres and provides playground equipment, a basketball court, shelters, and a .2 mile walking trail. This community is known to come together and enjoy popcorn and a movie in the park. A family friendly community full of fun. Hugh McCormick Henderson Co. Fairgrounds and Freedom Park total nearly 20 acres and are located off of Airline Road, in Henderson. It is home to the giant dinosaur park. It has a beautiful .6 mile walking trail that surrounds the entire area. Many families enjoy this central location for reunions, birthday parties or just a day in sun. This Park is also home to The Farmer’s Market. Sandy Lee Watkins Park in Hebbardsville is a beautiful and growing nature park on over 500 acres of reclaimed coal mine. Though it is currently under construction the public is welcome to take a walk on the 1.25 mile walking trail or spend a day fishing and picnicking! The park currently has 4 lakes, Lake Penn, Lake Virginia, Lake Davis and a handicap accessible lake is being constructed and the first phase is complete. Many exciting things are happening in this park!
