The Ecusta Trail is right on track for a June 2025 opening — and we’re getting closer every day! Here is an update on trail progress for Henderson County, given at the April Rail Trail Advisory Committee (RTAC) Meeting:

✅ Phase 1 construction is on schedule- Hooray!
✅ All essential safety features will be in place for opening
✅ Six businesses have signed on as Trail Partners to offer parking, restrooms, and water to trail users
✅ Federal grant reviews are ongoing, but no construction delays are expected

A few reminders:
• Waste bins may not be installed by opening
• E-scooters will follow city & county rules
• Bike races won’t be allowed — safety first!
• Permitted events will begin in 2026, starting with a spring celebration hosted by Friends of Ecusta Trail

This summer marks a huge milestone — and we can’t wait to welcome you to the trail!

Current Scoop on what's what with the park!
Post Helene Status:
Grounds and trails open dawn till dusk 7 days a week.
Hikers lot limited to 24 cars. Only lot open at this time.
Barn & video open 7 days a week 10-3.
Bookstore open Sat and Sun 10-3
Half mile walk from parking to farm / house area.

Recycle your solar eclipse glasses!🕶️

Glasses can be donated for school children to view the August 2024 eclipse in South America! You can mail the glasses yourself or drop off at the Public Works Operations Center, 234 Friendship Chapel Road, Wake Forest, NC 27587, by July 15.

Happy Birthday, Cornelia Vanderbilt Cecil!

Cornelia was born on August 22, 1900, in the Louis XV Suite at Biltmore House. George and Edith Vanderbilt's only child traveled a great deal with her parents, but Biltmore was their primary residence during her formative years.
