We continue to stand by our region as it heals from the devastation of Hurricane Helene, holding those who have lost loved ones or suffered damage to their homes or livelihoods in our hearts.

The Pisgah Conservancy remains committed to meeting the needs of our partner, the U.S. Forest Service. We are guided by the agency’s motto: “Caring for the Land and Serving People.”

At this moment of tragedy, serving people is paramount.

Many of our staff and board members are actively involved in preparing food for the
community, supply acquisition and distribution, and cleanup efforts in Western North Carolina. If you have the means, we encourage you to contribute to one of the following organizations that are on the ground providing direct aid, or to a fund dedicated to helping the many impacted Pisgah-area businesses recover:

As Western North Carolina embarks on the long journey to recovery, I know we are all missing the opportunity to get in the woods and relieve the stress and heartache of the last two weeks. We’ll get there but for now, the best way you can help DuPont Forest is to respect the closure. With downed trees, possible landslides, and active sawyers, it is dangerous to be out there and we want to ensure that first responders can continue prioritizing recovery efforts.

The NC Forest Service has a plan and is working hard to reopen DuPont Forest. You can help us stay on track by staying off the trails.

I have received so many offers to volunteer. Thank you! If you are interested in helping clear the trails, please sign up here - https://www.dupontforest.com/volunteer/. When the time is right, we’ll email details about Trail Crew Work Days.
