The inaugural Show-Me Jazz Festival is coming to Hermann, MO on Saturday June 13th. Gates open at 2pm with music starting at 3pm.

The Clara Eitmann Messmer Amphitheatre venue in Hermann is a large, grassy area and stage for performing artists. All seating is general access and those grassy areas are first-come, first-serve. We recommend bringing your own lawn chairs and blankets.

May's German Word of the Month is "Maibaum," which means "a decorated tree or trunk" or more commonly, the "Maypole".

The Maypole tradition was first created in Germany and Austria, and is usually celebrated on May 1st, to signify the arrival of spring.

In Germany, they have a lot of fun with it. Pranks and games concerning the Maypole are commonplace. It's very common for neighboring towns to steal another town’s maypole and demand crazy ransom requests like a case of beer or bratwurst!
