Thinking about a world cruise or a grand voyage? A few things look different when you're sailing for months instead of a week.

Your cabin matters more. You'll live in it for a long stretch, so the category, location, and size deserve real thought.

Travel protection matters more. The longer and more expensive the trip, the more is riding on it, and when you buy can affect what's covered.

Paperwork takes time. Passports, and visas for some ports, need to be in order well before you sail.

Next month I'm sailing my first river cruise, and I'll be sharing the whole thing with you.

I'll be aboard Viking's Lyon & Provence itinerary on the Rhône, with stops in Vienne, Tournon, and Arles, ending in Avignon. Then a few days in Paris before I fly home.

I've sailed oceans and I've sailed small ships, but river cruising has its own rhythm. I want to feel it for myself so I can tell you who it's right for, and who might be happier with something else.

I just got back from Ireland with a group of 11, and I'm still smiling about it.

This was my third time to Ireland and my second trip with CIE Tours. The first was 27 years ago, and the quality is still there. Our guide, PJ, made the whole week, and every one of us came home with a different favorite stop. My daughter fell for Dublin, my husband connected most with Galway, and Killarney won me over.

Y’all... the CEO of Azamara Cruises knows who I am. How cool is that?

I wasn’t able to be at my host agency’s National Conference this week. I’m sad I missed it because my name and photo ended up on the big screen in front of more than 400 of my colleagues and peers. During the Azamara presentation, their CEO - Dondra Ritzenthaler talked about me, and called out persistence as my competitive advantage. Me! I’m still a little in shock about it.

I built Adventure Bound Travels after 17 years as a stay-at-home mom, no client list, no head start. So being recognized like that, by a cruise line I genuinely LOVE working with, is a really big deal to me.
