• When I first moved to Hico I was told different stories about ghost that seem to live here as well. One such ghost was a woman, who I was told was no lady. could be seen standing in a window upstairs in the Midland Hotel.
The story I was told is the lady worked in the saloon and one night she came into the hotel with a drunken cowboy. In the room when the cowboy went to sleep the lady preceded to remove money from his cast-off pants. The cowboy woke up catching her in the act. He killed her, I wasn't told how, but he put his pants on and left town real fast. Unable to rest the lady wonders the hallways and looks out of an upstairs window watching for the cowboy.
The Midland hotel is a beautiful, refurbished, classic hotel and the guest that stay there have never sighted said ghost but when planning a visit to Hico be sure and check in at the Midland and find out for yourself.
