I had a long lovely FT chat with my dear and bestest French friends today and I realize how much I miss that magic corner of p’tit Béarn, my life there and my sweet lovely friends and all the fun we always have.
I’ve actually enjoyed being at home for a full year (the first time ever when I haven’t traveled anywhere!), but now I’m itching to go back to France (& Spain), but I’m also not quite ready mentally to see the fallout from the economic ruin of this d*mn virus. It will be heartbreaking.

Are you watching “Lupin” on Netflix?
Did you know that it’s loosely based on the books written in 1905 (!) by Maurice Leblanc who wrote about the gentleman thief and master of disguise, Arsène Lupin.
The author lived and worked in the picturesque seaside town of Étretat in Normandy, an easy drive from Paris if one wants to go for the day.

Almost two years ago I had the great privilege to lead a group of amazing high schoolers from Toronto in Normandy, Brittany and Paris.
On our first day on the tour, en route to Caen, we made a pit stop in Étretat to stretch our legs and get some fresh air.
We walked past Mr. Leblanc’s home and I told the students about Arsène Lupin.
If anyone in that group is watching “Lupin”, I hope they remember that stop in jolie Étretat.
