Silent meals: the resistance people have to this going in versus how they feel about it by day two is one of the more reliable transformations I've seen in wellness travel. You sit down, you eat, you're actually present for it, and you realize how much noise you normally bring to a table without noticing.

Schedule: a beautiful property with a weak program is just an expensive hotel. The itinerary, the practitioners, the pacing of the days, that's what you're actually buying. I spend more time vetting that than I do the room.

Going alone: some people need to be given permission for this one. A solo wellness trip is not a consolation prize. For a lot of people it's the only context in which they've ever fully exhaled.
