This country was FOUNDED on people thinking INDEPENDENTLY & STANDING UP for themselves! But the way in which information is now FILTERED & FED to citizens & voters…making educated & unbiased decisions about those WE CHOOSE to LEAD US is hardly an option for MOST PEOPLE.
The days of the CREATIVE DREAMER seem to be a thing of the past & the vast majority are left feeling HOPELESS, CONTROLLED, MANIPULATED & ANGRY! The result is proving to be that we are TURNING those negative feelings on EACH OTHER instead of where they should be focused…THE SOURCE(S).
The use of technology should be to our BENEFIT not to our DETRIMENT. It should allow for and promote TRANSPARENCY versus SECRECY.
The US standard of CHECKS AND BALANCES should be fully employed during POLITICS & ELECTIONS to ensure EVERYONE involved from the candidates to the voters are treated FAIRLY…before, during and after elections.
INFORMATION PROVIDED to citizens during election processes has been DEGRADED to a state where obtaining TRUTH has become inaccessible for the MAJORITY of the US population.
Making a personal informed decision has become IMPOSSIBLE for many who simply do not have the time to do DEEP DIVES in order to UNCOVER TRUTH. The result…people’s hands are TIED, and they are FORCED to place their TRUST in those who DO NOT DESERVE to be trusted.
WE THE PEOPLE have LOST OUR RIGHT to political information slowly & systematically over the past years. The CONTROL of what we are “allowed” to know about OUR ELECTED officials has been taken out of our hands. We are left to simply try to
MAKE SENSE of what LIMITED & SLANTED information is handed to us.
We are now ALL relegated to HOLD OUR TONGUES out of FEAR … a concept that is 100% anti-American. Let’s all be clear! Mass and social MEDIA has made us more DIVIDED than ever…the OPPOSITE of what was perhaps originally intended.
It is being used as a WEAPON to SEPARATE, SILENCE and SHAME. As a result, we can NO LONGER TALK to each other and FIGURE OUT issues that face us ALL.
WE have been led to believe that we cannot DISAGREE & still be FRIENDS, RELATIONS or even FAMILY.
WE have become REACTIVE instead of REFLECTIVE…less HUMAN in so many ways. Our EGO now outweighs our HUMILITY and RATIONALITY, as we are made to believe we can HIDE behind our screens & act as CYBER-EXPERTS without credentials or repercussions.
We have come to ACCEPT being censored, deleted, unfriended, and canceled for EXPRESSING ourselves…the QUALITIES of being open-minded, understanding, compassionate and willing to compromise are NO LONGER VALUED, but instead our seen as WEAKNESSES. 
And sadly, this mentality seems to have LEAKED into our SOCIETY and CULTURE…even so far as our MOST IMPORTANT political choices. 
Perhaps we should consider treating elections…this most FOUNDATIONAL & CRITICAL part of our DEMOCRACY in a more business like or even judicial fashion?
Candidates and ALL those surrounding debates & elections should be held to the SAME GUIDELINES as WE ALL ARE when we, for example…
-go to court
-apply for a job
-are evaluated for a raise/promotion
-play sports
-write a paper in high school or college.
Election & politically based statements, representation and information provided to the PEOPLE of this country SHOULD BE honest, civil, lawful, unprejudiced, documented and proven at a MINIMUM.
This is what CITIZENS NEED and what we DESERVE. SO…FLIP the SCRIPT…we are BETTER & SMARTER than the way in which we are being treated! It’s OUR CHOICE.

So…a question:
🌈 In a different day & a better version of our BELOVED Country…how could we make the information during debates (& elections) more TRANSPARENT and ACCESSABLE to all Americans?
🔥A few thoughts & ideas about debates:
(Feel free to add YOUR “perfect world” ideas in the comments.)
-Everyone participating in or speaking during a debate should be“under oath“ in some way.
-A debate question should be visible to viewers on-screen.
-Questions should be respectful & neutral in tone and each question should be formally asked to both candidates…versus controversial, lopsided, soundbite seeking or opinionated (causing distraction).
*A period at the end of the debate could be allotted for questions specific to each candidates to be asked, versus this occurring during the main part of the debate which causes confusion & a sensationalized atmosphere.
*Questions not presented in this manner & order would be thrown out.
-Alternate moderators could be on hand and would be substituted if one of the active/speaking moderators was deemed to be impartial, confrontational or behaving in any way other than in a neutral manner during a debate.
*A candidate could request a substitution at any point during a debate.
-Judges/justices, ministers, or others held in moral high regard should be the moderators.
*This should be an application & interview process versus an appointment.
-Backgrounds of the moderators should be published in advance & one person from each party must be represented.
-Questions should not be given to the moderators (or anyone from either candidate’s team) prior to the debate.
-With current & future technology & in order to limit bias…perhaps debates could be automated versus needing moderators?
*Couldn’t questions, timing and the microphone being shut off, be handled technologically?
-Creation of questions should be bipartisan and those included in creating the questions should be noted publicly in advance.
-Show the audience the countdown timers during debates.
-Show the US population the sources of “fact checking” & have the moderators state them for public record at the time the information is stated.
-Candidates should be required to offer specific details and references when at all possible when arguing points involving things such as voting record, campaign promises, positions held, public record of events, historical data and so on.
*In the interest of time this could be published (in order, question by question) post- debate for Americans to compare/cross reference statements made during the debate, allowing the population to review the details at their convenience.
-Candidates should have a set period of time during debates where they are able to speak freely and on their own accord on any topic which they feel has been misrepresented or is important for Americans to better understand about them as a candidate.
-Give each candidate a starting score, visible to all viewers.
*Deductions would be made equally for things such as, not answering the question asked, unsubstantiated slandering, dishonest statements, etc.
*An odd numbered panel would be isolated at the debate location while keeping score individually & privately & digitally notifying moderators real-time.
*Panel members would need to have documented background checks proving they were law abiding, honest & bipartisan
*Scores could be challenged and adjusted after the debate, and the onus would be on the panel member(s) to factually defend their position.
*All information regarding challenges or adjustments would be made public.
-Potential candidates should also debate prior to winning the support of any party
*ALL potential candidates’ CV/résumé/credentials should be made public prior to either party endorsing said candidate as the one chosen to run.
🌈While we are dreaming…
-No more professional/career politicians should be considered for the role of US President or Vice President (at a minimum).
*Candidates must have previous career/work experience (including domestically domiciled) prior to entering politics.
