Never a pleasant post to make but yes, we are aware of the horrific accident on the New York State thruway this afternoon involving a motorcoach. It is not a local company and thankfully none of our passengers are involved. Our heart goes out to the victims and prayers are needed for those still being rescued. There are multiple fatalities and injuries reported. Please keep them and the first responders in your thoughts and prayers. Side note, if you are planning travel on the state thruway anytime today, check the status. Lanes are closed and will be until further notice.

We had an e-mail go out this week to all of those on our e-mail list. If you are not on that list, you can find the link to the message in the first comment. What a beautiful tribute tonight as Private Harland Hennessey was es**rted home after more than 80 years. May he now be put to rest in peace with his parents.

If you are able to take part in this long-awaited homecoming for a local war hero, we invite and encourage you to do so. We will proudly be standing alongside Route 12 in Remsen this evening to honor and pay respect to Private Hennessey.

All Fire Departments are welcome to Honor as Hennessey's procession goes by.
The return of Private Harland Hennessey’s remains to his beloved village of Boonville and the North Country, will begin in Hawaii, on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, before arrival in New York state on Thursday, August 21, 2025, arriving at 4:40 P.M., at the Rochester, NY International Airport, where his final transport to Boonville, NY, will continue via the NYS Thruway to Exit 31, at Utica, where the Patriot Guard Motor Cycle Veterans and other groups will es**rt the procession on to Boonville, via State Rt. 12, north. It is expected that Pvt. Hennessey’s remains and procession will arrive in Boonville, between 8:00 P.M. and 8:30 P.M., on Thursday, August 21, 2025, with the Procession exiting Rt. 12, at Main St., Boonville and continuing up Main St. to Schuyler St. to Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Citizens of Boonville and surrounding communities are cordially invited and welcomed to assemble in downtown on the streets of Boonville to give our North Country WWII, Hero, Pvt. Hennessey a fitting homecoming.
