The final round of the week took us back to Trump Aberdeen, this time to play "the new" course.
Spanning hundreds of acres of rugged coastal terrain, the brand new, 18-hole links course promises an exceptional golfing experience with dramatic views of the North Sea.

Featuring the world’s largest natural bunker, mountainous sand dunes, and infinity greens hugging the coastal dune ridge, this course is meticulously designed to complement their acclaimed existing championship links course, which has received worldwide acclaim and is ranked among the “Top 100 Courses in the World” by Golf Digest. The layout was awarded best new course in 2025, and it is easy to see why they are attracting visitors from all over the world, who are keen to play this fantastic links.
Once again, an unseasonally mild day for us up in the North East of Scotland, and a great place to bring the curtain down on an excellent week of golf.

Our penultimate round of the trip took us to the magnificent Cruden Bay Golf Club.
There is evidence, in the form of a ballot box inscribed Cruden Golf Club 1791 that a nine-hole golf course existed before the layout of today’s links course. It may have been located at the Ward Hill near Slains Castle, and indeed the Cruden Bay Golf Club of today has in its possession a winner’s medal from a competition played on the Ward Hill dated 1883.

However their unique links course was commissioned in 1894 by the Great North of Scotland Railway Company and fully opened in 1899 as part of the recreational facilities offered by the Cruden Bay Hotel, newly erected and opened in March of that same year. The inner nine hole “ladies course” was also laid out at the same time. The magnificent hotel was sadly demolished in the 1950's, replaced by a clubhouse, which was also demolished to be replaced by the current clubhouse, in 1998.
Thankfully we stayed dry on the course today, but did have to contend with a strong wind, with gusts of 40 mph !
Nonetheless, a great day on a tremendous course, followed by a late lunch and then an extra 9 holes on their St. Olaf course.

Next up for the group was a visit to Trump International Golf Links, in Aberdeen.
Set amidst the magnificent great dunes of Scotland, it is home to two world-renowned championship golf courses and spans thousands of acres of glorious coastal terrain. Hailed The Greatest 36 holes in golf, the Old Course and New Course embrace mile upon mile of spectacular Aberdeenshire shoreline, offering awe-inspiring topography and an unparalleled test of golf, all staged against the vastness of the mighty North Sea.
We were blessed with clear blue skies and warmer than expected temperatures, and along with our wonderful caddies, Mike, Xander, Mark and Jamie, a fun round was had by all.

After a deserved nights rest for the group, we headed to Royal Aberdeen Golf Club. It was founded in 1780 as the Society of Golfers at Aberdeen and became the Aberdeen Golf Club in 1815. Until 1888 members played on the Queen's Links close to the city before moving across the River Don to the links at Balgownie. The Course was originally designed by the Simpson Brothers, Archie and Robert of Carnoustie and later re-bunkered and lengthened by James Braid to ensure their classic links kept pace with the modern game.
The club's 'Royal' patronage was awarded by Edward VII in 1903.
We teed off in the worst of the days weather and had to negotiate mist, strong winds and a couple of rain squalls. Having said that, our caddies did a great job and ensured everyone enjoyed the experience. On the 18th bright sunshine broke out to see us home, before we had an excellent lunch in the lovely traditional club house.

This week we are back in Scotland, and after meeting the clients at the airport we headed straight to Ladybank Golf Club.
Established in 1879, the architect of the original 6-hole course was old Tom Morris.
In 1910 a circular 9 holes was formed with the holes varying in length from 330 to 400 yards with ‘two short sporting’ holes at the fourth and seventh. A further 9 holes were laid down in 1958 and incorporated within the existing course in 1961 to form an 18 hole course.
They have regularly hosted final qualifying for The Open Championship, and in 2022 did so for The Senior Open Championship.
The club famously hosted an exhibition match in July 1983 between Jack Nicklaus and Seve Ballesteros, when St. Andrews was unable to accommodate. Seve shooting 69 to Jack's 75.
We managed to finish our round before the rain arrived and then carried on up to Aberdeen, our base for the week.
