The final round of the trip took us to the Old Course Vilamora, which is the second oldest course in the Algarve, designed by Frank Pennink. It opened for play in 1969 and has undeniably remained one of Portugal's and Europe's finest courses ever since. They wanted to build a course in the Algarve that would remind the rapidly growing number of British travellers of the great inland courses back home, something they admirably succeeded in achieving.
After post match drinks it was back for an early dinner at the resort, as a very early start was needed the following morning.

Next up for the group was the Quinta do Lago South course. It is certainly the most famous in the area and it has played host to the Portuguese Open on no fewer than eight occasions. Given its championship pedigree, this is also a course which will be enjoyed by the average handicap golfer. The fairways are relatively generous and the predominantly sandy but undulating ground flatters medium hitters. With umbrella pine-lined fairways, bold bunkering and a splash of water features, the South course at Quinta do Lago is certainly an eye-catching layout and one which will appeal to discerning golfers.

After an enjoyable day of touring the group returned to the golf course, this time playing the excellent Laranjal course at Quinta Do Lago.
They opened in 2009 and very quickly became a must play course, backed up by them winning the 2011 best course at the Portuguese Travel Awards.
Originally an Orange Grove, this championship course sits in the Ludo Valley boasting spectacular fairways and well defined greens. The course is renowned for its lakes, umbrella pines, cork oaks and of course the many orange trees.
At just over 7000 yards off of the tees we played, it was a good test of golf whilst been fair.

The group took a day off from golf on Friday and instead took a tour around Lagos, Sagres and St. Vicente with their excellent guide Rosa and driver José.
They made a luch stop at the excellent D. Sebastião restaurant in between touring the wonderful sites, before heading back to Vilamoura, with just enough time to freshen up and head out for another great dining experience around the local marina.

After dinner last night within the resort at Antonino's and some well deserved rest, our first round of golf took us to the excellent Vale do Lobo's Royal course.
Along with the Ocean course the resort is home to 36 holes of top class golf.
The first 12 holes are solid, before the final third of your round offers up a sterner test. This is highlighted by the famous par three 16th hole which runs along the ocean. The early morning cloud soon gave way to clear skies and hotter than usual temperatures, which were accompanied by a very tough wind, meaning low scoring was not on the menu.⛳️ 🌞
