This article makes some VERY GOOD POINTS! As with all things in life, you get what you pay for. Cheap in travel almost NEVER translates to a good experience. I do not think you have to buy luxury but you need to think about what you are getting with the "cheap" options. Once I start pointing it out to clients, they soon realize that cheap is almost never the answer. Do I really want to travel another hour from the airport via train to get to city center just to save a few bucks? Do I really want to be nickled and dimed by the budget airlines? What are the hidden fees in those cheap hotel rooms? Check out the article for more insights!

The key is to have a realistic budget! Don't expect a hassle free, exotic vacation on a shoestring budget.

PSA from your local travel agent: Any US citizen planning to travel to the United Kingdom (England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland) now needs an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) to enter the country. It is suggested to apply 30 days before your travel date. Once approved, the ETA is good for 2 years.

The cost is approximately $22 and you can apply from the website below. DO NOT pay any more than this amount--there are companies who will "help" you to apply and charge you extra with the promise of faster response time. NOT TRUE! You do not need this. Response time from the official site is just as fast at 3-7 business days.
