January 2025 - Adventure of the Seas - Eastern Caribbean cruise - Day 9 - Up early this morning. Went to the Windjammer to pick up breakfast and then ate out on the pool deck. Then it was time for the All-Access Ship Tour. It was a small group paid for tour. First we were taken up to the bridge. Saw all the control panels, the very small wheel (really a dial now) for the ship, the view was great and there was even a lounge sitting area. Next we went to the deck 5 Main dining room and were led back into the galley. Saw where they cook and put together the meals, how the servers pick up meal components and how they wash all the dishes. Then it was down to deck 3 where we were taken to the backstage area of the ice-rink. He explained how the ice was 3 inches thick, how they make it and maintain. And showed us the Zamboni. Then we moved down to deck 1 and the Engineers control room with all the radar, electrical controls and cameras. Security scanned us before we went on the bridge and then again here. Not sure what could have changed between the 2 places. Next the provisions master showed us where they kept all the fruit, liquor, the meat freezer and the dairy refrigerator. He said last cruise he had hardly any liquor left but this one he had more than he should. And then we went down another deck, deck 0 I guess. Down here we saw the garbage and recycling room where all the waste is sorted. The money that is made from selling what they can goes directly to the crew. And then the laundry rooms. They are the first ship to have an automated towel folder that folds the towels for them. There are also crew cabins down there. After the tour, I was hot and claustrophobic. I went out and walked the around the pool deck a couple of times and then found a shady spot to read for awhile. Had a pulled pork sandwich and mozzarella sticks for lunch in the main dining room. After lunch, I did some work then walked around the outside of deck 4. The matinee show was the Adventure of the Seas orchestra. They performed selections from the Pink Panther, Frank Sinatra, Chicago and John Williams. The lead trumpet player, did the arrangements and also did some singing too. I went to the Game of Thornes trivia and quickly learned that it has been something like 4 years since I read the books and watched the series and I didn't remember most of it. Headed back to the room to start packing before dinner. I had dinner in the Windjammer in front of the windows since tonight's Main production would have been during my dinner seating. The show was a comic who did a family friendly show and then the singers, dancers and the orchestra did a farewell number. I went back to the room, finished packing and put my luggage out. The comic then did a late night adult show. He was fairly funny. Then it was time to call it a night. Tomorrow - heading home!
