Melodies of the Danube - AmaWaterways Pixie Fam - Day 14 - Up very early today to get the luggage out for pick up. Ama picks it up and brings it down to the bus. It was to early for the breakfast buffet to be open so we were provided with breakfast boxes to take with us. Bus ride to the airport was about 30 minutes. At the airport, the Ama representative walked us into the airport right to the American Airlines desk. All 20 of us on the bus were on the same flight to Philadelphia. He waited with us until the desk opened and explained the airport procedures. Dropped off bags and then went through passport control. Security screening was done after we got to the gate. Flight was long and very uneventful. Made it to Philly with no issues and made it to the gate for the flight to Chicago with an hour to spare. It had started to storm in Philly. Flight took off a few minutes late, landed early and then sat at the gate waiting for the jetway to be brought out. R.J. picked me up and I came home to a couple of happy cats!

Melodies of the Danube - AmaWaterways Pixie Fam River Cruise - Day 13 - Woke up for our last day in Prague. Had the included hotel breakfast buffet again. They had a few different offerings today including an apple pie. Then it was on the bus for our last tour - a tour of Terezin about an hour's ride outside of Prague. Terezin was a fortress town built in the 1780's named for Empress Maria Theresa. It was taken over by Nazi's during WWII and used as a concentration camp. We toured through the Ghetto Museum and then the Small Fortress which was were the Nazi's imprisoned thousands. I can't really describe what it was like to walk through these parts of history. It was a long tour and it was after 3:00 when we arrived back in Prague. Decided to have a small snack, clean up and then go have an early dinner. We ate at Adele's an Italian restaurant in the old town. Pizza was good. Soda and water cost the same and it was more than the beer cost. We wandered through some streets and shops we hadn't done before and stopped for gelato. Called it an early night as packing still needed to be done. Luggage needs to be out by 5:30 in the morning for pick up. Tomorrow - heading home!

Melodies of the Danube - AmaWaterways Pixie Fam - Day 12 - Met up for the included hotel breakfast. It was a very large buffet with lots of local options. Then it was off for our morning tour of Prague. It was a bus ride to the Castle District. The Prague castle is 3 times the size of Buckingham Palace and is as big as 11 Soccer Fields put together. The castle was founded in the year 880 and built up along the way through the 16th century. We saw the changing of the guards. Could have spent the whole day here. Instead we continued by walking through the Lesser Town of Prague filled with amazingly old buildings, cobblestone streets and more churches. Had some free time to shop. Went in a beautiful crystal store. Made it down to the Charles Bridge built in 1357 made of stone with statues all along it. The Bridge is completely pedestrian now and we walked across. Walked through the Jewish Quarter and ended up back in the Old Town where the astronomical clock is. This ended the guided tour. Walked over to nearby modern wall with a food court to grab a quick lunch. Had McDonald's which was just like at home. Did find the Pandora and get a Prague castle charm. We were near the hotel and went back to drop off our purchases. Headed back out to old town to an Art Gallery where we saw exhibits by Dali, Warhol and Mucha. I had never heard of Alfons Mucha but I really liked his paintings. I picked up a couple of postcards with my favorites on it. Headed back to the hotel to shower and change for dinner. Met back up the group and were bussed to a Czech restaurant for dinner and folklore show. A quartet played traditional Czech music along with a few other pieces like Home on the Range and This Land is Your Land. There were traditional dancers and a singer. They played throughout the dinner which was a lot of pork and potatoes. The dumplings were really good. After dinner, bussed back and headed to bed. Tomorrow - last day in Prague.

Melodies of the Danube - AmaWaterways Pixie Fam cruise - Day 11 - Up nice and early today. Had to put the luggage outside the room at 6:30. We put it out at 6:25 and the stateroom attendant was already there to take it away. Headed down for our last breakfast on the ship. Said good-bye to our table and server. Buses were ready before 9:00. We boarded and were able to spread out. They had 60 guests heading to the post-cruise extension and used 2 buses to get us there. Drove about an hour and half to Regensburg, Germany on the Autobahn no less. Our guide said that the German roads are extremely safe because it is very difficult to earn a driver's license and if you pass the first time it costs you $3000. A bus driver's license can cost upwards of over $10,000. Regensburg is a Medieval town with the old town section on the other side of a stone walking bridge built in 1135. Toured the town with a guide and then had free time. We went into the old cathedral built for the bishop of the time. Did a little shopping and then had lunch at an Italian restaurant right over the bridge. The pizza was good. Then it was back on the bus for the 4 hour trip to Prague. About half way through they stopped at a petrol station for a comfort break. Here the bathrooms were free and they had they had Pepsi products. Finally arrived in Prague about 4:00. Were given our room keys by our Cruise Manager and headed right up to our room. We are at the Prague downtown Marriott. It is beautiful and we have a very spacious room. Our luggage was delivered fairly quickly. Unpacked a few things for the 3 night stay. Met back up with the Cruise Manager and the group for an orientation walk to the old section of Prague. She gave us landmarks and some places to see and eat at. We decided to cross another Hard Rock off the list and have dinner there. After dinner we wandered some shops and then stopped to watch the Astronomical clock at 9:00 pm. Finally, did make it back to the room to call it a night. Tomorrow - Prague tour!
