Please continue to keep Amanda and her family in your thoughts and prayers as she continues healing!!!
A message from Amanda:
I have been waiting to make this post, not exactly sure what to say. After lots of consideration I have decided to be honest and transparent. On November 3rd I experienced a very rare type of stroke. The type of thing many doctors never see. Steven immediately knew something was wrong and acted very quickly, getting me the help I needed. By the grace of God, a surgeon was able to come in quickly that had done one other similar surgery and long story short, saved my life. By nothing short of a miracle I am alive and without major defecits. However, this has hit our little family very hard. They witnessed things no one should have to endure. They have taken care of me 24/7 for the past 2 months. I am doing very well despite the circumstances, but the road to recovery is long. Without going into detail, I have a lot to relearn and overcome. This will ultimately affect our business. I have the best support system but I do the majority at the shop. We essentially cannot run the business without me. That means hiring and our opening date will be delayed. This is painful on so many levels and we know that we have become a staple for your visits to holden beach. We greatly value that. My team of doctors will decide when it is safe for me to return to work. We will keep you in the loop as soon as we know what that date may look like. The projected time is 6 months post surgery because that is standard healing time for my artery to heal and brain to recover. I will be getting lots of testing to indicate how quickly my healing is happening. The next hurdle is how much I can handle mentally and physically once I return to work. My job is very physically demanding as well as needing to multitask and be incredibly organized. I will be honest, right now I have terrible memory and cannot remember more than 1 task at a time. That will make things incredibly difficult, especially special orders. We do not know God's plan, though, and are hoping I come back better than ever. We will ride the wave as it comes. Hopefully no changes need to be made, but if they do, we will continue to be transparent. We appreciate your understanding and are so thankful for those of you who have sent cards, food, and well wishes. None of this was what we ever had planned for our lives or business, but as we all know, sometimes life doesn't let you plan. We are thankful for a community that will understand, help us heal, and be there for us when I can get back on my feet.
With love,
Amanda
