A few hours ago, a fellow travel advisor posted in one of our groups that her client just died while on vacation. He drowned. His wife is there, and the advisor is arranging for their family members to get there. They bought travel insurance. So, his remains will be repatriated.

I don’t know how many times I have encouraged, even admonished, people to purchase travel insurance. It’s more than just getting a refund if you have to cancel, reimbursing you for lost or damaged luggage, reimbursing you for trip delay or trip interruption, and paying for emergency medical attention. It covers situations like this.

I understand that no one wants to think about the ultimate worst experience, but it can happen, unfortunately. Please don’t leave this to chance or force your family to start a GoFund Me to raise upwards of $30k to have your remains flown back home.
