One interesting detail often mentioned by biographers is that Wood reportedly had a lifelong fear of dark water, stemming from a childhood prediction that she would die that way. 💔

Today, more than four decades later, the circumstances of Natalie Wood’s final hours remain one of Hollywood’s most debated unsolved mysteries.

In July 1969, Gary Hinman — a 34-year-old music teacher and UCLA sociology student — was attacked in his Topanga Canyon home by Manson Family members Bobby Beausoleil, Susan Atkins, and Mary Brunner.

Rumors of an inheritance and a failed drug deal led the group to demand money. Over two days, Hinman was beaten, cut by Charles Manson with a sword, and ultimately stabbed to death by Beausoleil.

Before leaving, the killers scrawled “Political Piggy” on the wall in Hinman’s blood, with a paw print to frame the Black Panthers.

Beausoleil was later caught driving Hinman’s car, with the murder weapon in the trunk. He was convicted of first-degree murder in 1970.

Hinman’s death was the first Manson Family killing, foreshadowing the Tate–LaBianca murders just weeks later.

After Sharon Tate’s murder in 1969, her father Colonel Paul Tate — a decorated Army intelligence officer — reportedly disguised himself as part of LA’s hippie counterculture to search for answers himself while police struggled for leads.

The first major break in the case later came when Manson Family member Susan Atkins reportedly confessed details of the murders to fellow inmates in jail.

Inside Hollywood’s legendary Formosa Cafe, you’ll still find “Bugsy Siegel’s booth.” 🔫

During the 1940s, the infamous mobster reportedly ran parts of his gambling operation from the restaurant — and beneath the booth is a glass-covered safe once used for cash drops.

People who owed Bugsy money could secretly deposit cash through a hidden slot, allowing him to collect it later without a direct exchange.

When the safe was finally opened decades after Siegel’s 1947 murder… it was completely empty.

Today, you can still see the illuminated safe inside one of Hollywood’s most iconic true crime locations. 🖤

In 1963, the home was sold to celebrity hairstylist Jay Sebring, who later dated actress Sharon Tate. Though they eventually separated, they remained close until both were tragically murdered by members of the Manson Family on August 9, 1969.

The house’s original owners were actress Jean Harlow and producer Paul Bern. Just two months after their marriage, Bern was found dead from a gunshot wound in one of Hollywood’s most infamous unsolved mysteries.
