Third year in a row for Jason’s family and friends. Had a nice weather window before the next “cold” front. It gave us the opportunity for a decent bite nearshore with some nice Hogfish, Mangrove Snapper, Red Grouper and a few Grunts for a fish fry!

The nearshore scene looked like a full parking lot with the King of the Beach tournament going on but we made it happen. Water was extremely clear and made it a tough bite. Lots of Kingfish out there early in the morning. Found a new ledge out there a few weeks ago which led to our keeper Hogfish for the day. Definitely pays off to do your homework.

I spent the day prospecting and I’m glad I did. Had a stellar bite, and kept my limit of Hogfish before this East wind blows out the chance for nearshore fishing this week.

I’ve been doing some nearshore fishing the last few days with the nice weather windows. The Sandbar Sharks were relentless today! Had a group of guys from Iowa that wanted a few fish for lunch before they flew home tomorrow. A nice Hogfish and Permit for a meal and let the rest go. Non stop action for them today!

This Cobia swam right up to the boat. We pitched it a live Pinfish and watched it inhale it on the surface. We were catching Grouper and Mackerel, when this Cobia crashed the party in the last few minutes of our trip that day.

If you want to eat, what my girlfriend Sarah and I are having for lunch and dinner the next couple days, give me a call! The Gag Grouper bite should only get better as the water cools. I’m trying a mix of live bait and trolling techniques to get these fish to the boat and on the dinner plate. The Island has slowed down during our season lull, which makes it a more enjoyable experience on the water during the week. Snook and Gag Grouper seasons opened today. Snook will remain open until the end of November and Grouper will close November 11th. I’m hoping the water temperatures will gradually lower and fall fishing will kick off! This slot Snook and Grouper are perfect size for the dinner plate. Let’s go fishing!

Whenever I’m on vacation, I like to book a guided fishing trip. I’m not a big fly fishing guy but after fishing the Provo River in Utah, I’m obsessed. If you’re coming to Anna Maria Island or surrounding areas. Book a trip and we can enjoy a day on the water, fly fishing or live baiting!

Hit the bait, hit the plate! Josh and these two men enjoying the fruits of their labor. Fried snapper or Snapper Picatta is how I’ve been making mine all week. I love teaching people to fish, it’s a survival skill that I feel like people need to have to be self sufficient!
