Looking for a fun way to explore this summer? We’ve got just the thing.
The Trek Northeast Kansas Passport invites you to discover the best of rural Northeast Kansas in a whole new way.

This interactive passport experience takes you across Holton, and Jackson County, Seneca, Doniphan County, highlighting the places that make each community unique. From local shops and restaurants to historic landmarks, public art, and hidden gems, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

Funded in part by a Kansas Tourism Marketing Grant, this initiative is all about encouraging people to explore more, stay longer, and support local along the way.

How It Works:

Join the Trek Northeast Kansas Passport (event code: TREKNEKS)
Start visiting stops across the region
You’ll check in at each location using GPS, photos, or QR codes. Every check-in earns you points, bringing you closer to prizes at the end of the passport.

Summer adventures are waiting in Jackson County!

There’s no better time to get out, hit the road, and discover somewhere new. From charming small towns and local shops to murals, parks, unique attractions, and hidden gems, Jackson County is full of places worth exploring.

Take the scenic route. Stop in a town you’ve never visited. Grab a meal from a local restaurant. Browse a downtown shop. Snap a photo at a mural. You never know what you’ll find just around the next corner.

Looking for a weekend filled with great music and good company? The 32nd Annual Prairie Lake Pickin’ Party returns to Jackson County June 11–13 in Holton!

Enjoy three days of old-time country, bluegrass, and gospel music in a welcoming atmosphere for both pickers and listeners. Acoustic musicians are invited to bring their instruments and join in the fun, while spectators can sit back and enjoy performances throughout the weekend.

Admission is free, and stage shows will be held Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings, with additional music on Saturday afternoon.

Whether you're a lifelong bluegrass fan or simply looking for a unique local experience, this longtime Jackson County tradition is worth adding to your calendar.

Make plans to check out the 4th Annual Parking on the Prairie Truck Show in Holton, June 26–28. This family-friendly event supports Children's Miracle Network and brings together impressive trucks, great people, and a great cause.

Admission is free to the public, so gather your friends and family and spend some time enjoying one of the many events happening in Jackson County this summer.
