I almost overworked this one too!
But stopped just in time! This is the finished version.. I’m working on gessoed paper which has a little more body than ordinary paper but it’s not like canvas.. it soon gives up its life! And then you can’t make one more line!

Nell Gwynne, mistress to Charles the Second , an actress who gave the King two sons. The portrait I used to draw this is in the National Portrait Gallery in London and is stunning.. it always startles me.. so brazen!
This version is white gesso and black and colored graphite, some pastel and pink acrylic. It’s about 3 feet high..
