We are moving into the shoulder season for fall camping in Kachemak Bay State Park. All of the yurts are still open for September. Fall is often the prettiest time in the park, but remember to dress for the weather and carry wood and water with you.

There is a new option for yurt camping in Ninilchik. Four yurts wait for you at the campground above the Kenai Peninsula Fairgrounds. Find the Denali Circle Yurts at https://www.alaskaourway.com/denalicircleyurts. Book online for a fun camping option close to home, no water taxi needed. The yurts are a joint venture between Alaskan Yurt Rentals and the Kenai Peninsula Fair Association.

Please read and comment. Let DNR know how much you like the yurts in the park.

In the plan for the Kackemak Bay State Park, there is an intent to phase out the yurts and build State run cabins at the yurt locations. If you like using the yurts, and would like to keep them available for use, consider responding by writing about the yurts. Ask them to change the wording referring to cabins to include yurts. Park staff are stretched thin now, and adding up to nine more cabins to the park would be adding a lot of responsibilities that the yurt company handles now. Plus the cost of building the cabins is a major expense. One of the advantages of the yurts over the cabins is that if you need to cancel, we generally have you covered. If you have rented a cabin, and have to cancel, you either have to find someone who is willing to take your reservation, or give it up with no refund. AYR understands that life happens and weather happens. Please take time to read the plan. Search for the words, yurt and cabin, to find the relevant sections easily. There are two online comment times tomorrow. I will post that information separately.

Change is inevitable as time passes.

We would like to say thank you to all of our past clientele for the opportunity to have created lifetime memories by allowing us to plan your trip to Alaska.

Alaska Our Way LLC is changing its focus. Several factors have combined to create this change. First, we can no longer compete with the cruise companies who have purchased many of the venues we booked for independent travelers. While it is still possible to book those activities, many are only available according to the cruise ship schedules.

Second, life changes have affected the ability for the company to continue with the same level of support for our clients that you cane to expect. With this we wish the best to Carol Pipgras as she moves forward in new directions.

Third, the current state of affairs with COVID19 has rendered us with a season of no tours for 2020. Travel to Alaska is just not a sustainable activity for this year.

What we are doing is to promote activities in the Kachemak Bay area. Alaska Our Way LLC has been the voice in the phone for the last few years for Alaskan Yurt Rentals LLC. We are continuing to be that voice. Our webpage will begin to reflect support for getting away to Kachemak Bay State Park by renting a yurt or even just hopping over for a day hike.

There are many lovely wilderness spots to visit, so for visitors to Alaska, and for our local supporters, we hope to be able to highlight some of those spots and help you figure out how to get there.
