A new Nature Coast Anglers member David and his wife joined me today. Their goal was to learn some areas they could explore in their boat yet still catch a few fish on a half day. We started off hot and landed some solid reds off the bat! Than the dolphins came in to visit and stir it up but I’ve always said it’s not quite a bad thing, typically fish will come explore after and see what’s stirred up. To my surprise no redfish came back around but a big snook decided to get in on the action! David was able to get his first inshore slam today! A keeper redfish, trout, and slot size out of season snook released for another day. Crazy story as the snook was close to the boat I’m leaned over with the net waiting for the fish to rise and break surface when suddenly a 6 foot lemon shark came rushing in about to bite our snook nearly in half! All I could do was jam the net in between them which caused the shark to turn away just before he could get it ! Thankfully we revived and let this fish go healthy back to its home. We decided to move on and not give the chance to the shark again. Afterward we finished up with a few inshore trout to top it off !
