A Month in Paradise: My Epic Hawaiian Adventure
Hey there, it’s Eric from Houston, and let me tell you, I just had the time of my life! Every year, I make my pilgrimage to Hawaii for a two-week escape from the Texas hustle. But this year? Oh man, I went big and stayed for a whole month. Why? Because the rates at Sans Souci on the Gold Coast were so good, it cost me about the same as my usual two-week trip. Talk about a no-brainer!
From the moment I landed in Honolulu, I knew this was gonna be different. I’m usually rushing to cram everything into 14 days—snorkeling at Hanauma Bay, hiking Diamond Head, scarfing down loco moco at Rainbow Drive-In. But with a full month, I could take my time. I’d wake up to the sound of waves, grab my coffee, and just vibe on the beach with my aloha shirt fluttering in the breeze. No schedule, no stress—just pure island magic.
I spent my days exploring like a local. I found this tiny shave ice spot in Waikiki that’s gotta be the best-kept secret on Oahu—mango and li hing mui combo, trust me, it’s life-changing. I paddled outrigger canoes with some folks I met at the beach, and let’s just say my arms got a workout! I even tried my hand at hula—spoiler alert: I’m no pro, but I had a blast embarrassing myself at a local class.
The best part? Sans Souci was my home base. Right on the beach, steps from Waikiki’s buzz but quiet enough to feel like my own slice of paradise. I’d sit on my lanai at night, watching the sunset paint the sky, thinking, “Man, this is it.” A whole month gave me time to really soak it in—every wave, every palm tree, every plate of kalua pork.
This trip wasn’t just a vacation; it was a reset. I’m already counting down to next year, and you better believe I’m booking with Sans Souci again. Houston’s great, but Hawaii’s got my heart.
Aloha for now,
Eric
