Hey skiers and snowboarders! Here's your Mt Hood weather: Today's the calm between the storms – just a little snow is forecast. Starting tomorrow, the weather turns favorable for big snow accumulation of the dense, heavy snow type. A couple feet are forecast between Sunday morning and Tuesday morning. Next week all looks good, but models are honing in on warmer, potentially rainy weather next weekend followed by warm weather the following week. But hey, our snowpack is deep and solid, and the riding today will be awesome: spectacular packed powder and hardpack groom with windblown packed powder off the groom. Monday summary for the upcoming week: Hey skiers and snowboarders! Sunny, warm weather continues on the mountain through Wednesday, and then the pattern finally shifts. In a positive twist, the Euro and GFS made a u-turn and decided to knock temps at 5000' down to 32F or a couple degrees lower for about 48 hours starting Saturday night. Will we see snow out of this short period of cool-enough weather? It's not quite clear yet; if we do, it'll be on the tail end of the system, and then we'll have several more days of warm weather before winter returns. Those signs of winter returning are pretty clear, at least as of this morning. Fingers crossed!

Friday's summary Mt. Hood forecast:

"Hi skiers and snowboarders! It's Friday morning, and the wrong kind of precipitation is falling from the sky. Well, it's November. That's to be expected! Temps drop this afternoon at the tail end of this system, and another little system tonight brings some snow. Follow that up with intermittent snowfall through Tuesday morning. Most members of the ensemble models then offer up a dry, warmer period of at least a few days to finish off next week on the slopes."

Thursday 11/21 Mt. Hood forecast summary:

Hi skiers and snowboarders! Our deep snowpack is settling in for an extra-long ski season, and you should get up there and get some. A couple inches of additional snow fell in the last 24 hours, and Timberline Lodge is reporting 61” on the ground, and Mt. Hood Meadows is reporting 62". I inspected Teacup Lake Nordic Club yesterday. It passed inspection. There's … So. Much. Snow! Get it now. We're expecting a mostly dry day today followed by heavy rain into tomorrow midday (timing shifted a little late from previous model runs). Sub-freezing weather returns Friday afternoon with a little snow Friday night. That leaves us with questionable surface conditions for Saturday, but if models hold, we'll have dumping snow Saturday afternoon into Sunday morning for an excellent Sunday pow day and stellar groom on Monday. After that: about 70-80% of the ensemble members call for mostly dry, cool weather next week. Can you say... groom and parks and Nordic?

Yeah, we all thought we were rad with the foil sports...

A Nebraska man paddled 38 miles down the Missouri River on Saturday in a "boat" made from a hollowed out pumpkin to celebrate his 60th birthday and hopefully set a Guinness World Record.

The Columbia River appears likely to reach its highest levels since the Spring of 2019 later this weekend into early next week. Expect more Interstate 5 bridge lifts than normal during this time.

It is also a good reminder to remember to wear your life jacket if you plan to venture on the river. Also, keep in mind currents will be stronger than normal and the river remains cold enough to produce cold water shock.
