This Week's "On The Bench" This Vintage 1954 Gibson ES-295 came in for a setup and general cleanup. This originally belonged to the late and famous Danny Gatton and was brought in to me by one of his producers. I will comment on the photos as usual. Thank you for reading. This Week's "On The Bench" This beautiful Fender "Rarities" Stratocaster from the Kalifornia Karl Collection came in with a dead pickup that happened during shipment. I usually just replace common pickups, but these are not common at all. In this rare case the only choice is to have the pickup rewound. I don't own a pickup winding machine because they cost around $1500 and I hardly ever need one. When I run into a rare pickup that's not working, I can just send it out and have it done. I will comment on the photos as usual. Thank you for reading. Dave Ross "The Guitar Doctor"

This Week's "On The Bench" These two Fender guitars came in for complete fret replacement. The owner requested that I install the larger jumbo size fret wire, like the newer fender guitars come with nowadays. The older Fender guitars came with tiny .077 wide size frets and the they lacked in both tone and sustain. The newer Fender guitars come with a .094 wide fret that is also a little bit higher and gives the guitar a lot more punch! Both tone and sustain are increased. I will comment on the photos as usual. This Week's "On The Bench" This Jay Turser Flag guitar came in with the action about an inch high off the fretboard. This is part of the Kalifornia Karl collection, and will be part of his July show. I went right through the whole guitar adjusting and fixing all of its issues. I will comment on the photos as usual. Thanks for reading. Dave Ross "The Guitar Doctor"

This week's "On the Bench" I've seen a lot of guitars lately that have dried out fingerboards due to our dry winter months. It's important to apply a coat of fingerboard conditioner to prevent the wood from cracking. Also look how Beautiful it makes it look! Here's a before and after photo of a guitar that came into the shop. Also this Daddario Hydrate is my choice of cleaner and conditioner. Thanks for reading. Dave Ross " The Guitar Doctor "

This Week's "On The Bench" These 2 old Teisco guitars came in for complete restoration over the last few weeks. These guitars were made in Japan back in the 60's and they came with 3 or 4 different names on the headstock. Many of their name tags have fallen off because they were stuck on top of the finish. I will comment on the photos as usual. Thank you for reading. Dave Ross "The Guitar Doctor"

This Week's "On The Bench" This Gibson came in with different kind of fret edge problem than the usual fret sprout. Usually fret sprout is caused by the fingerboard shrinking due to having our heat on during our dry winter weather. But not this time. I will comment on the photos as usual. Thanks for reading. This Week's "On The Bench" This Beautiful 1967 Fender Mustang came into the shop for some electronic issues and a setup. This was my dream guitar when I was 12 yrs old. The Mustang sold for $200 and the Stratocaster was $300 brand new back then. I never got one of these because my guitar teacher told my dad the Hagstrom was a better deal. Now you know why I'm not a lead guitarist. I will comment on the photos as usual. Thanks for Reading. Dave Ross "The Guitar Doctor"
