One of my favorite traditions I brought home from my years living in West Texas is roasting fresh green chiles every fall. 🌶️

The smell alone takes me right back.

And on our upcoming trip to Santa Fe, we’re getting to experience it the authentic way during a private hands-on class at the beautiful Santa Fe School of Cooking.

We’ll be roasting and peeling fresh green chiles, learning to make chile rellenos, fresh salsa, and other incredible New Mexican dishes that are deeply rooted in the culture and traditions of the Southwest.

Then we’ll sit down together and enjoy the meal we created together. 🤎

This is the kind of experience I love most while traveling… not just seeing a place, but learning something from it and bringing a little piece of it home with you.

Food has a way of connecting people, stories, and memories — and Santa Fe does that so beautifully. 🍂

This really started pretty simply…

Not just about travel—
but how easy it is to keep putting it off.

Waiting for the right time.
The right person to go with.
When everything lines up just right.

And sometimes… it just doesn’t.

At some point, I realized there were places I really wanted to experience—
and I didn’t want to keep waiting.

So I started planning them anyway.

Not big groups.
Not rushed itineraries.

Just a small number of women, traveling at the right time…
in places that feel different when you slow down.

That’s what I’m creating here.

First up… Santa Fe 🌶️

I’m beginning to put together a small collection of what I’m calling Exhale experiences—
slow, meaningful trips in beautiful places.

Think chile season in the air…
unhurried mornings…
a cooking class rooted in the culture…
and time to truly enjoy where you are.

Santa Fe felt like the perfect place to start.

Spring here never lasts long, so I try to take it all in.

The Hill Country has been especially beautiful lately, and it has me thinking about a different kind of travel…

Slower mornings.
Real experiences.
Actually feeling a place instead of rushing through it.

Traveling with the seasons—
experiencing places in the time they come alive in their own way.

The food, the culture, the quiet in between.

Lately, I’ve realized I don’t just love to travel…

I love the feeling of being somewhere.

The food.
The culture.
The slower pace.
The way a place can stay with you long after you leave.

That’s what I’m drawn to now.

Not rushed trips.
Not checking boxes.

But experiences that feel a little more thoughtful…
a little more beautiful…
and a little more meaningful.
