United Airlines is preparing to open a new $2 billion Terminal B at George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston later this year, in what the airline calls the most modern airport terminal in the country.
The new North Concourse spans 765,000 square feet across three levels and will house 22 narrow-body gates for United's mainline fleet, replacing the original 1969-era flight stations that have served Houston for more than half a century.
It will also be home to a 54,000-square-foot United Club, the largest in United's global network, featuring panoramic airfield views, expanded seating, and elevated food and beverage options.
Travelers will also find a sensory room for passengers with hidden disabilities, dedicated quiet zones, and two new concessions hubs offering more than 115,000 square feet of dining and retail. Other upgrades include a modernized ticketing lobby, expanded baggage claim, a streamlined security checkpoint, and an Early Bag Storage facility, the only one of its kind in North America.
The project is a partnership between United and the Houston Airport System, with United investing $1.9 billion and the City of Houston contributing $624 million.
The new terminal is designed to handle 36 million passengers annually and supports United's continued growth at its Houston hub, where the airline already operates more than 400 daily flights and employs over 14,000 people.
