During our last trip to the States 🇺🇸 in September and October, we had the opportunity to reconnect with a remarkable conservation leader, Rick Barongi, and visit Longneck Manor, the unique wildlife experience 🐾 he has brought to life in Fredericksburg, Texas. This special place is rooted in heart, education, and meaningful connection, giving overnight and day visitors the chance to meet giraffes 🦒 and rhinos 🦏 up close while learning why their protection matters 💪.

To date, Longneck Manor has already contributed hundreds of thousands of dollars to global conservation projects, and now they’re launching an ambitious $5️⃣M capital campaign to expand their impact even further. From new habitats and educational spaces to a state-of-the-art rhino conservation facility, their commitment to protecting endangered species is both inspiring and essential.

During our visit with them, we were fortunate enough to spend some fun moments with one of the reticulated giraffes named Kafele! He was quite the character. As you can see, he was full of sass and personality 😆!

As we wind down this year, we’re continuing to highlight some of the incredible adventures ✈️ our guests took this year, and here is another meaningful one to share with you ❤️.

August 21 – 28, 2025 | Brittany H. & Haley B. ventured to South Africa 🇿🇦 to celebrate Brittany’s 30th birthday, a dream Brittany had held close for years. Together, these two nursing colleagues embraced the vibrant spirit of Cape Town and the wild beauty of the Greater Kruger National Park 🐾 ecosystem. Their time was a blend of urban adventure alongside unforgettable moments in the bush.

We supported them with arranging their thrilling shark cage diving experience 🦈 outside of Gansbaai, as well as their incredible safari at Senalala Safari Lodge ⛺, located in the world-famous Klaserie Private Nature Reserve 🌳.

Although the duo ✌️ only had two days on safari, the bush presented them with an abundance of sightings. They encountered the Big Five (lion, leopard, elephant, rhino & buffalo) and so much more. Special moments included seeing, within the same view, an elephant 🐘 and rhino 🦏, each one located on a side of the safari vehicle; a stunning leopard 🐆 sighting; one of the iconic male lions 🦁 of the area; and even a hyena making its early-morning rounds.

Beyond the actual sights, there was something deeper that made this journey unforgettable 👀...

At Senalala, dining 🍽️ is communal, as guests from the lodge’s 6️⃣ rooms gather with the staff at one long shared table for every meal. As a result, the ladies connected with travelers of all kinds of nbrrriiittaannyyey Haley Berry shared stories 🗣️, played games late into the night 🃏, and even requested to gather in one shared spot for their morning coffee ☕ stop on their final game drive.

This is the true spirit of safari 💫....

People from all corners of the world, brought together by nature 🌱. A reminder that we’re far more alike than we are different, all walking the same human journey 👣 across this beautiful planet 🌍 we share 🤲.

As we wind down this year, we’re catching up on some of the incredible journeys ✈️ our guests have taken this year, and this one feels especially close to the heart ❤️.

July 14 – 17, 2025 | The Rainey Family’s journey to Tsowa Safari Island 🏝️ in Victoria Falls 🇿🇼 was a joyful celebration with layers of meaning woven throughout. Marking Emma’s graduation from a year-long safari guide training program 🐾 with EcoTraining 🐘, this trip became a beautiful pause in time for her, her mum, and her dad to reconnect, reflect, and celebrate how far she has come.

Their days on Tsowa unfolded at the gentle pace of island life…
🌟 The slow drift of the Zambezi.
🌟 The stillness of the national park around them.
🌟 The kind of quiet that lets you breathe a little deeper.

And every moment held its own story.
🛶 Emma and her dad paddling down the mighty Zambezi River.
💪 Her mum is taking on each adventure with humor and determination, boot and wheelchair in tow.
👣 A guide who made the experience feel effortless and full of heart.
💧 A visit to the almighty Victoria Falls, where the roar and mist wrapped the family in a sense of wonder and gratitude, one of those “we’ll remember this forever” moments.

For us, this journey also carried something personal. Our founder, Katherine, met Emma years ago in Johannesburg through work, long before Emma dreamed she’d be a guide. And her family was the very first to travel with Hope African Adventures when we launched in 2019. That trip was an adventure to Tanzania and Zanzibar, marking the beginning of this entire chapter. Seeing them return now, to celebrate Emma stepping into the guiding world, felt like life coming full circle 💫.

Tsowa Safari Island remains one of my favorite hidden getaways near Victoria Falls. Perfect for travelerEmma Maeescape town, slow down, and experience the Zambezi and the park in such an intimate way. A peaceful oasis with endless ways to explore.

Recently, our team took a much-needed forest adventure 🌳 right on our doorstep here in Hoedspruit 🇿🇦. Katherine, Sarah, and a few other loved ones set out to experience the best of the major hikes 🥾 at the Blyde Forever Resort ⛺, which led us deep into the heart of the Blyde River Canyon ⛰️. Known as the third-largest canyon in the world and the largest “green” 💚 canyon on the planet, this landscape carries a vibrant, living magic ✨ that you can feel in your bones 🦴.

The day unfolded in all the ways nature knows how to offer. Joyful conversation blended with pockets of stillness, quiet reflection, and long stretches of walking beneath cathedral-like trees. We swam in fresh spring pools fed by recent rains 💧, all of us braving the icy water 🥶. Katherine even leapt from the rocky ledges into the spring below, and Sarah tasted the fresh spring water straight from its source.

It became one of those grounding days that remind us what really matters: time with good people 🫶, being present 🙏, and letting the wild nourish mind, body, and spirit. What on the surface seemed like a simple hike was actually full of quiet healing, laughter, connection, and the kind of natural tranquility that stays with you long after leaving the canyon behind 💫.
