We LOVE it when our return guests are still super excited to stay at our place just as they have been over the past SIX years! Grateful to those who continue to grow with us as we continue to expand and elevate our vacation rental.

We couldn’t do it without our trusted housekeeping and landscaping teams. They help set us apart from standard rental listings and we are so blessed to have talented folks working behind the scenes!

Our annual sibling vacation 2025 is in the books. We were rollin’ all week long with lake life, but the ONE day we had rain, the family doubled down and wrote postcards on behalf of Delegate Chad Creen’s campaign. When your son is full throttle in election season, even the 4th grader helps out!

We took a break from postcards and then had a craft of decoupaging sea shells. That was a good distraction from the rain as well.

We also celebrated three birthdays this trip: a 50th, a 53rd, and a 25th. Life sure is fun when you get to spend it with the people you love the most.

Trees and leaves, trees and leaves, all I see are trees and leaves.

Camp Run-a-Muk is in full on leaf clearing season and today we just took it all in, enjoyed Mother Nature’s blessings, took a big sigh and decided we’d tackle the leaves tomorrow instead.

We had tree trimmers here today and figured we’d just stay out of their way. Sometimes a day off is just that.

If it’s not moving dirt, then vacuuming up it’s the never ending blanket of leaves that cover the 1.5 acres here.

This weekend was spent sprucing up Camp with the Agri-Fab staying gassed up and in motion. Three “truckloads” of vacuuming and it’s still not done. Tree trimming is up next and a fresh paint facelift this winter to follow. We sure stay busy around here!

It’s another busy weekend here at Camp Run-a-Muk! The Camp Directors had 9 TONS of topsoil delivered on Friday, so Holley and Steve fired up the tractor and got to work filling holes, divots, and places where the sinking septic lines have created uneven turf. It’s was a full day of moving dirt and we’re only about halfway done. Boy, are we sore though.

Dixie, the resident “supervisor” decided to quit about 30 minutes into the project and just snoozed the rest of the day.

This vacation rental offers so many opportunities for people to come together, laugh, heal, and enjoy the beautiful lake and all of her beauty. It’s a work in constant progress, but we wouldn’t have it any other way.

It was an EPIC Labor Day weekend at Camp Run-a-Muk!

We had some happy campers to say the least, but they’ll be sore tomorrow. 😂

The staff at Camp Run-a-Muk rolled out the red carpet this weekend and welcomed the Longwood University Women’s Field Hockey Team. It was a fun-filled weekend with all sorts of water activities, good food, s’more’s, a campfire, and a movie on the lawn.

This is the place where memories are made. ❤️

The she-shed at camp got another improvement this past week. Old worn out boards and a crumbling frame were demolished and replaced by a sound structure and Trex decking. Even better - the Trex boards were FREE and leftover from another project. All we had to do was cut them to size. Every day is an adventure here at Camp Run-a-Muk!

Let the holiday season begin!

Today, staff at Camp Run-a-Muk participated in the Bedford parade in Town. Over 100 floats were registered with many other tractors, golf carts, jeeps, etc. in attendance. In a small town like ours, you were either IN the parade or AT the parade. Destination Bedford always has something going on, even outside of the summer lake season.

We painted, added new pvc trim, installed new shiny hardware and skirted the bottom with snazzy white lattice.

This she-shed would not be complete without our staple red barn stars.

The American flag shines proud, especially under the light. Thanks to longtime friend, Wendy Wilkinson and my hunky husband, Steve Scheffel for helping me tackle this long overdue “non-project.”

The final picture is the inspiration for the interior (another non-project”).
