Small Business Spotlight: Coffee Bean Counter

Downtown Huntington has a new spot to gather, connect, and enjoy a great cup of coffee. Coffee Bean Counter, owned by longtime Realtor Chris Parker, opened its doors last week in the old Community State Bank building right across from the courthouse.

The name came naturally once Parker saw the massive vault door that dominates the space. Rather than hide it, he leaned into the history with a clever nod to both “bean counters” and coffee beans. The vault has already become a favorite photo stop for customers.

But Parker says this isn’t just about coffee. “We’re not about slinging cups,” he explained. “We’re about developing intentional relationships and helping people make connections.” That’s why Coffee Bean Counter was designed with plenty of seating, meeting rooms, and cozy corners. Already, the shop has hosted Bible studies, work sessions, and friends catching up over coffee.

The drinks are as creative as the space. Favorites so far include the Blueberry Pancake latte with maple, the Campfire S’Mores Chai, and the Viking - a mocha latte with chile and cayenne cold foam for those who like a little adventure. Soups and wraps are coming in September, making it a new go-to for lunch downtown.

Parker admits opening a business was intimidating, but the early support has meant everything. “I love that people are coming in and using the space the way we intended…it’s everything we had in mind, and people are enjoying it.”

With a slogan like Brewing Coffee. Building Community. Coffee Bean Counter is quickly becoming exactly what Parker envisioned...a place where people can come together and be part of something bigger than themselves.
