Shawshank Disc Golf

Shawshank Disc Golf A great mix of holes make up this technical course. Trees abound. Several small lakes come into play. Many holes with elevation changes.

Three holes longer than ~500'. Signature hole is a "Tin Cup Island hole" where you have to land on the marked island. You have arrived at the site of the Top Ranked Disc Golf Course in Southeast Texas located just outside of Huntsville. Here we have a unique recreational destination duly named by the owning DuFrane family and satirically themed after famous and infamous criminal and penal referenc

es due to its proximity to the State Prison. But make no mistake, playing disc golf is not a crime unless it’s a crime of passion and you miss the opportunity to play at Shawshank, then you are guilty. Disc golf it is a goal oriented walk through the freedom of Mother Nature. Technically, as in traditional golf, the lowest score wins; but at Shawshank, the most fun wins. SHAWSHANK disc golf course will be closed February 8th as our Family is holding a memorial service in honor of my Father, Richard C DuFrane, who passed away peacefully in his own bed on December 8th. Those who knew my Father well and his contribution to the disc golf community are welcome to attend. This will be an informal gathering full of fond memories and tributes to the man who made all this possible. Thank you.
