🚗 Memorial Day travel is officially here and AAA is projecting record-breaking travel numbers this weekend.

If you’re hitting the road, a little timing can make a big difference. Consider traveling earlier in the day, avoiding peak afternoon congestion, and giving yourself extra time so vacation starts with less stress.

39.1 million cars are about to hit the road for the busiest Memorial Day weekend on record.

AAA projects 45 million Americans traveling at least 50 miles from home between today and Monday. Most of them (87%) are driving. Gas is $4.55 a gallon nationally, up $1.36 from last year. The most expensive Memorial Day fill-up since 2022.

Thursday and Friday afternoons are the worst windows. If you're leaving today, wait until after 9 pm. Leaving Friday? Be on the road before 11 am. Saturday tightens up after noon.

Sunday is the sleeper. Light traffic expected all day. If you have the flexibility, that's your move.

Coming home Monday, get out before 10 am. After noon it locks up through 5 pm.

From restaurant staff and bartenders to hotel housekeeping, bellhops, concierges, airport shuttle drivers, porters, private drivers, tour guides, cruise staff, pool attendants, spa staff, photographers, yacht crews, golf caddies, ski valets, and even your travel advisor so many people behind the scenes help make your trip smoother, easier, and more enjoyable. A little appreciation can go a long way while traveling 🌍💛

Here are a few quick tipping reminders while traveling:
• Restaurant staff: 15–25%
• Bartenders: $2–3 per drink
• Hotel housekeeping: $5–10 per night
• Bellhop: $2–5 per bag
• Concierge: $10–50 depending on request
• Valet: $3–7
• Airport shuttle drivers: $1–3 per bag
• Porters: $2–5 per bag
• Tour guides: $5–20 per person/day
• Cruise staff: $5–10 per day
• Private drivers/chauffeurs: 15–20%
