With 115 balloon pilots and nearly every state represented, it was an incredible gathering of the ballooning community from across the country.

July, you were a good one. 🎈

Plenty of flying, some great passengers, two very special proposals from the basket, and the first-ever Balloons Over Brookings. It’s hard to ask for much more from one month.

And we’re not finished yet. Today we’re headed to Indianola, Iowa, for the National Balloon Classic—a nine-day event featuring more than 100 balloons and skilled pilots from across the country and beyond. This time, it won’t just be about scenic flying; we’ll be putting our skills to the test in competition.

Grateful for a full July and excited to see what August brings. We’ll share some of the adventure along the way!

We honestly didn't know what to expect for our first Balloons Over Brookings, and the support you showed this weekend meant more than we can say. Whether you joined us for one session or spent the whole weekend at the balloon field, thank you for being part of something special.

What a great first night at Balloons Over Brookings! 🎈

A HUGE thank you to everyone who came out to the balloon field, visited with our pilots and crews, and helped make the opening night such a fun evening. We loved seeing so many smiling faces!

We’re excited to do it all again tonight and are hoping for cooperative weather. We’d love to see even more of you at Fishback Soccer Park for another great evening of balloons and community.

Brookings, today’s the day! 🎈

Balloons Over Brookings is almost here, and we can’t wait to welcome everyone to Fishback Soccer Park for a weekend of balloons, color, community, and family fun.

Check out the schedule and start making your plans.

Just A Taste Tethers will offer tethered balloon rides during the evening sessions, weather permitting, for $20 per passenger, cash only.

We’re also excited to have the South Dakota Art Museum at the field with a balloon-themed kids' art project starting at 6:00 p.m. both evenings.

And come hungry — we’ll have a few Food Trucks, including: Little Prairie Coffee Company, La petite crêpe, Karma’s Korn, and The Patty Wagon joining us at the balloon field.

We’re grateful for the NorthWestern Energy crews working to restore power after the storm, and for the many people across the Huron area pitching in with cleanup and support.
