National HDT Rally

National HDT Rally The National HDT Rally is a community of Heavy Duty Truck and 5th Wheel enthusiasts who gather once a year to share their knowledge and experience.

Every year the 2nd week in October, the National Heavy Duty Truck (HDT) Rally is held in Hutchinson, KS. Registration information can be found here: nationalhdtrally.org


The Rally is a meeting of owners and people contemplating getting an HDT. There are presentation sessions on subjects of interest to HDT’s and RVer’s in general. Safety is a main concern when using an HDT and several experienced

presenters will share their knowledge. There are also social functions to build relationships with fellow RVer’s. All RVer’s are invited. You do not need to have an HDT. You do not need to be a member of Escapees or any other organization to attend the Rally. At the Rally, you can sit and meet with HDT owners, tour HDT trucks and RV’s, get a sense of sitting in a HDT and maybe drive a HDT. This includes both spouses in most all activities. (Men are not allowed to attend the Rigs Driven By Estrogen (RDBE) Meeting). Depending upon availability, trucks rides and chances to drive a truck will be available.

I have started a 2025 National HDT Rally private facebook group that will be available to those that have registered I will keep the the calendar and any updates there along with other pertinent info. Happy Tuesday! Today is the 12th of Aug. While that mean nothing to many it leave 3 days to order T-shirts and save $10 PP on your Rally registration. Registration won't close till mid week the week of the Rally. So if your on the fence yet don't fret you can still come. Still join the festivities. I don't order food till the week before and restock throughout the week. We're at 78 registrations currently, we have room for 200 or more. I'm working on finalizing the Schedule when its complete I'll post it up. On the website and here. Looking forward to seeing old friends, meeting new friends and just having a good time. See you all soon.

With heavy hearts, we share the passing of our dear friend and fellow HDT owner, Dave Schonhardt.
Dave passed peacefully this morning at 7:20 a.m. Mountain Time.

He had a deep love for his HDT and treasured the friendships he made within the HDT community. In true Dave fashion, he requested no formal service—choosing instead a burial at sea.

To honor his life and memory, we invite all of his friends to raise a glass in his name. This Monday at 6:00 p.m. Mountain Time, toast Dave with your favorite craft beer—something he loved sampling as he traveled the country.

And for those who attended one of his many RV electrical safety classes—check your wires for wear. 😉 Dave would have appreciated that.

. Hi hope this finds everyone enjoying their Summer. Just wanted to remind that August 15 is the cutoff for ordering T Shirts for the National HDT Rally. Also that is the same date of the end of early registrations price will increase $10 Per person. I am currently working on the schedule have some new topics and a couple of new vendors, that will be doing bearing repacks, the local Hospital will be doing a "stop the bleed" first aid seminar they will also offer CPR for a added cost. (I'll be asking for a head count late Aug) Plus the fellowship, camaraderie, lots of food, and all the topics those HDT curious folks want to know. Thank You! to all those that have registered and to all those still debating there is always room for one more even last minute. For those wondering about the confirmations I'll be sending those out after I have the T shirts ordered. If you're not sure send me a message and I'll confirm for you. Looking forward to seeing everyone and meeting new folks. OCTOBER is just around the corner.

Hey everyone we have an opportunity to have a group from the Hutchinson hospital come and give a talk about first aid, a program called Stop the Bleed, and for a small fee (CPR. $9 at the hospital) looking for interest? Who would be intrested?

Happy April 1st everyone I'm pleased to announce the National HDT Rally registration website is open. This years rally starts Saturday Oct. 11, afternoon with check in, on the following Sat departure. Cost this year is the same as last year $125 person till Aug 15, then goes to $135. Camping is $154 for 7 nights full hookup. If your intrested but can't schedule right away don't worry as there is plenty of room for last minute decisions. Hope to see many of you in Hutchinson in October. "T" Shirts will be available on the registration website as well.

As we get closer to rally registration opening up what are things you would like to see? More hands on stuff like the multimeter seminar? Truck walk around? Throw me your Ideas. I want to make it good for everyone. What have you liked in the past? I'm always open for ideas.
