National HDT Rally

National HDT Rally The National HDT Rally is a community of Heavy Duty Truck and 5th Wheel enthusiasts who gather once a year to share their knowledge and experience.

Every year the 2nd week in October, the National Heavy Duty Truck (HDT) Rally is held in Hutchinson, KS. Registration information can be found here: nationalhdtrally.org


The Rally is a meeting of owners and people contemplating getting an HDT. There are presentation sessions on subjects of interest to HDT’s and RVer’s in general. Safety is a main concern when using an HDT and several experienced

presenters will share their knowledge. There are also social functions to build relationships with fellow RVer’s. All RVer’s are invited. You do not need to have an HDT. You do not need to be a member of Escapees or any other organization to attend the Rally. At the Rally, you can sit and meet with HDT owners, tour HDT trucks and RV’s, get a sense of sitting in a HDT and maybe drive a HDT. This includes both spouses in most all activities. (Men are not allowed to attend the Rigs Driven By Estrogen (RDBE) Meeting). Depending upon availability, trucks rides and chances to drive a truck will be available.

Happy April 1st everyone I'm pleased to announce the National HDT Rally registration website is open. This years rally starts Saturday Oct. 11, afternoon with check in, on the following Sat departure. Cost this year is the same as last year $125 person till Aug 15, then goes to $135. Camping is $154 for 7 nights full hookup. If your intrested but can't schedule right away don't worry as there is plenty of room for last minute decisions. Hope to see many of you in Hutchinson in October. "T" Shirts will be available on the registration website as well.

Next years Rally is scheduled with the Fairgrounds. Dates are October 11th -18th. Camping fees will remain the same. Going through everything and I'll know if PP costs will remain the same. Looking forward to seeing everyone next year. Will probably see some in Quartzsite. Follow the Quartzsite meetup all winter long at HDT'S in Quartzsite

Been a Very busy week! So how do you go about lining up 76 Big trucks 5 pickups a number of Jeeps and a whole Gaggle of Smart cars? Well with help of course. 2 on the lot, 2 chasing individual trucks, me on the balcony of the back of the Race track Grand stand along with the Photographer. Picking and choosing the colors and sizes. And 2 hours of time. And it only take 15 minutes to undo.

Well todays exercise in Rally setup involved hanging the screen, setting up AV stuff, sorting all the T shirts and name badges setting up Kitchen, making the Sams order, all things I cannot do by myself or with just Lisa's help. This really is a great Community so much help had Ladies washing tables, guys cleaning up popcorn in the auditorium left behind By the Good Sam rally last week. I again have to say Thank You to everyone for all your help! After Groceries tomorrow we should be in for an easy Friday.

Busy Day, got Keys for Fair Building, unloaded all the stuff out of the truck, ordered 70 pizza's, BBQ for 235, got the stuff out of storage, (Thank You for the help guys), started setting up things for this Rally. Oh and a 3 hour phone call in the middle. Business not pleasure. All in all a good day lots accomplished.

Gate #4 is open and I will have a key for it. So set your map for the Kansas state Fair Emcampment building and that should bring you in to Gate #4 if it's closed for some reason stop out there and honk.

Edited at the bottom....... NATIONAL HDT RALLY is less than 2 weeks away anyone looking at Google for directions should search Kansas State Fairgrounds Emcampment Building that will give directions to Gate #4 which is the best way in. Avoid coming in poplar as you will be trimming trees along a residential street. I know there are a couple of folks already there and a Good Sam rally this week. Let me know if your already there or when you will be coming in. I will be there Monday late afternoon. I don't know for sure they will leave the gate open after the Good Sam Rally. Feel free to message or call if you don't want your info here.my number can be found on the National HDT Rally page. Anyone coming in early can just hold on to your envelope and I'll turn in them all at once.

POPUP TOWING PRODUCTS, will have a person on site Tuesday and part of Wednesday doing complementary hitch inspections there will be a sign up sheet to take advantage of this service at check in. What they are proposing is this.

Look over misc. nuts, bolts and fasteners.

Check the condition of the shims and hardware on each side of the sled assembly

Inspecting clearances and bushing condition on horizontal suspension arms.

Inspect for excessive wear at head pivot points
