By 🌻 It’s Sunday morning — why not stop and smell the flowers?

The Broad Ripple Flower Alley off Carrollton and 61st has been spreading like wildflowers ever since the first few neighbors had their garage murals painted in 2019. Take a look at just a few picks out of the beautiful bouquet, created by , , , and others.

August 2019 is when we pulled the trigger on our intended garage mural! We were out of town when I saw Jules just left Indy. One mural didn’t get her to come back. We roped in our neighbors Chadolphus through a string of texts knowing they had shared their intention of having their nephew paint a rose on theirs. Mary was an immediate YES, she’d always dreamed of a mural! My wheels were spinning at that point and my eyes were on the original old barn behind us. I knew that if we could get them on board— this could become the start of something bigger! I sent my husband Alan to talk to Dan, the then owner, (I’m not much of a spokesperson;) Dan wasn’t against it but not 100% sure either, certainly under the time pressure he was being put under: Jules swipes by and gets things done in a couple of days max so no time to think things over. When it was down to cost keeping him from a yes- I offered to split it, knowing it would turn into a long lasting gift to our community. We have since financially supplemented other murals to make sure they would reach their full scope in potential and scale.

The next few years involved spreading the word, putting together itineraries for Jules with new murals to be painted, some for which I designed proposals for those that needed to see what it would look like before committing. Each time lodging Jules & crew into our Airbnbs as a part of our investment to further grow the flower alley.

I love watching it take “a life of its own” —inspiring many great things since… graduation, family, wedding or seasonal photo shoots, wedding rehearsal dinners, community gatherings and of course the notorious Revival by Jim Korn!

All of this was possible through the amazing neighborly love, help and support found on this blessed alley.

None of this would have been possible without Jules Muck! It takes a rare combined mixture of skills to create such movement: incredible TALENT, extreme FLEXIBILITY to work with a variety of people (some having no idea of what they want requiring her full input and creativity to people that have an exact vision to execute,) and SPEED: Creating an alley like this one needed MOMENTUM! Jules has all of it.
