Spread the Holiday Spirit!
PADUCAH - The city of Paducah has officially kicked off the holiday season by stringing Christmas lights throughout downtown this weekend, turning Main Street into a sparkling winter wonderland.
City officials say the early lighting is meant to “bring festive cheer” and boost local business, but some residents disagree. “It’s November! We haven’t even celebrated Thanksgiving yet,” grumbled local shopper Marvin Peters. “I’m not ready for Rudolph to judge my life choices.”
Others embraced the early glow. “I’ve been waiting since last January for this,” said teen Samantha Lee, snapping selfies under a blinking reindeer.
Despite the mixed reactions, city officials report that holiday spirit is already increasing, citing a noticeable uptick in hot chocolate sales and slightly awkward renditions of Jingle Bells echoing down the street.
Some locals, however, vow to “hold off on Christmas cheer until at least December 1st.”
This is a developing story.
