We made it 🛳️✨

After a long travel day yesterday, my son and I officially boarded Ovation of the Seas and are getting ready to set sail from Vancouver!

In May 2027, I’ll be hosting a group cruise to Alaska, and I knew I couldn’t invite others to experience something I hadn’t fully experienced myself first. So here we are…exploring, learning, and taking it all in (together 💙).

We’re kicking things off in Vancouver, and I already have one big tip: if you can, come in a day early. We visited Capilano Suspension Bridge before boarding and WOW… worth it.

Over the next week, we’ll be sailing through Alaska with stops in:
📍 Ketchikan
📍 Icy Strait Point
📍 Sitka
📍 Hubbard Glacier
📍 Seward
📍Anchorage

This Memorial Day, we’re remembering our brother, Elijah McLaurin. 🇺🇸

His service, & that of every man or woman who we honor today, means a lot to our family. His uniform is a reminder we don’t take lightly.

It’s also part of why becoming a Dream Vacations franchise was an easy yes for us! We value our networks commitment to supporting military families and veterans.

As you enjoy time off of work, gather with loved ones, travel, & whatever else this day brings for you…pause to remember the meaning of today.

“AI is replacing travel advisors…”

That’s the conversation these days (in this industry and beyond)…but honestly, it doesn’t worry us.

We recently had a prospective client upload one of our proposals into ChatGPT and share the feedback they received about it. Chat gave them a “DIY proposal option” 🫣

And instead of being offended…we were excited. 👏🏽

Because it gave us the perfect opportunity to show the real value of working with a travel advisor.

Here’s where AI missed the mark:

🏨 The hotels it suggested didn’t even offer rooms with two separate beds. This was a must for their trip.

✈️ The “cheaper” flight? A 36-hour itinerary with 3 stops and a self-transfer between airports, compared to our quoted 20-hour flight with just one stop.

🚐 It recommended canceling private transfers to save money and using rideshares…in a destination where Uber and Lyft do not exist. Taxis are available, but not always reliable.

There were a few other things too, but you get the point.

AI is a tool, and it can be helpful in many ways, but it doesn’t understand the real-life details, logistics, and nuances that can make or break a trip.

That’s where we come in.

We reworked their proposal with realistic adjustments that aligned with their updated budget, without sacrificing the quality of their experience.

Now booked, they can look forward to a seamless 14-day vacation in Southeast Asia! ✈️

P.S. When it comes to vacation planning, the best “AI” to choose is an All-Inclusive 😉

Where are we when we’re not planning vacations for others… or traveling ourselves? Right here in our backyard. 🌿

Trading digging our toes in the sand for digging our hands in the soil. After what felt like a year-long winter, we finally had a full week of getting crops and flowers in the ground.

There’s something special about slowing down, being present, and finding peace right where you are… even after the vacation ends.
