Another great hunt filled with incredible memories, great experiences and plenty of laughs along the way.

After our mountain reedbuck adventures, we moved camp for about three nights into the foothills of the Winterberg Mountains. This area had some particularly high-quality springbok in all the different color variations, along with an abundance of other plains game.

Lake made the most of his chances and came away with two world-class springbok. A beautiful copper springbok and a black springbok.

Great shooting, by the way, Lake! What a fantastic few days in another beautiful part of the Eastern Cape. 🇿🇦

We headed north a couple of hours, away from the coast, to get into some mountain reedbuck country. We saw some amazingly beautiful parts of South Africa on this day. Even though it was only two hours from where we had been, the landscape was completely different. It goes from lush, thick coastal bush to the dry Karoo desert simply by crossing the Olifants Mountain Pass.

We must have seen 800+ mountain reedbuck that day. With so many animals around, we could afford to be selective, and we came home with two very good specimens of this incredible species.

Well done to father and son, Lake and William.

This was a special day, a day I will never forget.

Lake also had a great first day on safari.

This old bushpig boar came into the bait at around 8 p.m. on the first night. My good friend Beans from Tootabi Valley Safaris had done some pre-baiting before we arrived, which definitely helped get things started.

A great way for Lake to kick off his safari with a fine old bushpig boar. Congratulations, bud!

William had one heck of a first day!

A nice old Impala ram in the morning, a blesbok ram before lunch, and then a proper Eastern Cape kudu bull later that evening.

What a start to the safari for the young man! Great shooting, bud. Congratulations on three magnificent trophies and an unforgettable first day in the Eastern Cape!

Our next couple of hunts took us to the Eastern Cape of South Africa, and this part of our beautiful country truly is remarkable.

As you look through the pictures, you’ll see the incredible diversity in the terrain and with that comes the different types of hunting each area requires. We had to travel a bit to target all the species we were after, but that gave us the opportunity to experience some beautiful parts of South Africa, meet some amazing people along the way, and share some unforgettable moments with friends and clients.

Stay tuned to see what uncle Bill, Lake and William (father son grandson) got themselves into over the next few days.

It’s a wrap for our Zambian safari!

Matt finished strongly with a big dog hyena, bringing an incredible safari to a fitting end. It was an unforgettable hunt from start to finish.

I cannot thank Vaughan, Dora, Thomas and their incredible staff enough for the outstanding hospitality, fine dining, and the all-round hard work that went into making this such a successful and memorable safari.

Matt also got him a big Kafue River crocodile. Two crocs in the 14.5–15-foot range is pretty impressive!

This magnificent Zambian sable bull deserved to be celebrated.

We drove countless miles over several days in search of a sable bull of this caliber. It was still early in the season, the bush was thick, and the grass was tall, making the search quite the challenge.

Then, just when we were starting to wonder if we would find what we were looking for, we caught a quick glimpse of this incredible bull disappearing into the thickets.

Our trackers did an outstanding job, picking up the track and keeping us on him. In less than 30 minutes, we had caught up with him.

Matt made a great shot with his 300 PRC from Alterra Arms™.

This truly is a sable of a lifetime. A magnificent bull from the wilds of Zambia and a hunt we won’t soon forget.

Matt also got himself a real nice, heavy bossed dagga boy in Zambia.

We picked up the tracks of a decent-sized herd and decided to follow them. It only took us about an hour to catch up. The timing couldn’t have been better—the herd came out of the thick stuff and started feeding onto a floodplain in the late afternoon.

Once you catch buffalo feeding out in the open like that, it’s exactly what you want. The most important thing is to keep the wind right and, of course, don’t get seen. You can get away with a little bit of noise because they’re all feeding and making plenty of noise themselves. It’s a completely different story when you find a herd of buffalo bedded down. In that situation, you can’t even breathe loudly without them hearing you!

We managed to work our way around and get to the side of the herd, where we picked out this beautiful bull for Matt. He made a perfect shot with old trusty Rusty, his .375 H&H loaded with 300-grain Barnes Bullets. One shot was all it took.

Once again, what an incredible honor to hunt in such a pristine and truly wild part of Africa. 🇿🇲
