Bond Falls is open year-round, and fall is a stunning time to see it. The falls drop about 50 feet and stretch more than 100 feet wide on the middle branch of the Ontonagon River near Paulding. A 360° panoramic view of Murray Bay on Grand Island, just offshore from Munising, Michigan.

The beautiful fall colors and clear waters of Lake Superior make for an incredible view, but there's also an interesting piece of maritime history resting beneath the surface.

The *Bermuda*, a wooden schooner carrying iron ore, originally sank in Munising Bay on October 15, 1870. Nearly 13 years later, in 1883, a salvage operation successfully raised the vessel and moved it to Murray Bay, where it was accidentally dropped during the operation and sank a second time.

That's where the Bermuda remains today, resting upright in approximately 30 feet of water, remarkably well preserved more than 150 years after its original sinking.

The Bermuda is part of the Alger Underwater Preserve and is one of several historic shipwrecks found in the waters surrounding Munising and Grand Island.
