This Goliath Grouper has a Balloonfish stuck in it’s mouth!! He thought it was an easy meal, but the Balloonfish, like Pufferfish, can blow up like a balloon when threatened by sucking in a large amount of water! When the Grouper went to inhale the Balloonfish, it puffed up and now it is too big for the Grouper to swallow! Now it is a battle of wills! Who will give up first?
We think the Balloonfish will win after the Grouper realizes it is just too big for him! He’s done this before! 😀🤙

The new baby Hawksbill Sea Turtle at the Reef went to say hi to the new baby Green Sea Turtle, but she didn’t want to hang out, so he went up to say hello to some humans but they weren’t looking under the water! So he decided to just go look for sponges under the ledge instead!

We found a Bird at the bottom of the Ocean, so we swam with it!
Meet the Cormorant, an aquatic diving bird commonly seen in the Florida Keys, but rarely caught on camera underwater! Watch it dive down and look for food on the coral reef!

Sea Turtles! Sea Turtles Everywhere! We see them a lot but usually they are by themselves. Seeing so many so close together is rare! They were all happily munching away on their seagrass!

We found Barney, the Sea Turtle we rescued 3 months ago!! We had not seen Barney ever since we released him in June, and we started to accept that we would not see him anymore. And then yesterday Barney is just back at the reef being his old self and looking great! His shell is healing up nicely, and he doesn’t even have any algae on him! It’s so amazing that we live in a place where we can go miles out into the ocean, see the same sea creatures year after year, and have a place to take them when they get sick or injured where they get cared for by truly wonderful people. What a success story for The Turtle Hospital and we love that can let them know that we have seen one of their patients living their best life out in the big ocean!

Hanging out with Harry the Hawksbill Turtle at his crystal clear Florida Keys coral reef home! What a paradise!🐢🤙
Harry is one of our favorite Sea Turtles. He has been living at this small patch of reef in Islamorada for over 4 years. His home is filled with thousands and thousands of awesome sea creatures like sharks, parrotfish, stingrays, eels, other species of sea turtles, snapper, grouper, blue tang and so much more! It’s always a bustling and vibrant place!
When Harry isn’t on the Reef, he can be found out in the seagrass that surrounds it, foraging around for tasty sponges!
It is so wonderful to be able to watch little Harry grow over the years!
