Celebrating 1 year of the Initiative — and 100 new life jackets on the water!
Issaquah was so happy to be part of this special day at Lake Sammamish State Park, marking the Initiative's first anniversary with the distribution of their Community Life Jacket Drive.
LakeSafe was started by Mudra Machewad after her dad had a scary emergency moment at Lake Sammamish — and in just one year, that experience has grown into fundraising, partnerships, and real life-saving equipment.
New life jackets (infant, youth, and adult sizes) are now stocked at the loaner stations at Tibbetts Beach, Sunset Beach, and the Boat Launch. Before, each station had just two old youth jackets. Now each one has 4 infant, 6-8 youth, and 6-8 adult jackets ready to go — free for anyone to borrow while enjoying the park.
Whether you're paddleboarding, kayaking, or canoeing, remember: the safest life jacket is the one you're wearing!
A huge thank you to Mudra Machewad, Washington State Parks, and everyone in our community who donated, fundraised, and helped turn this idea into action.

Another amazing night at the Issaquah Community Center! Enjoy the concert and remember to drop food items at the Issaquah Rotary tent and purchase dinner at The Kiwanis Club of Issaquah tent.
