The Cornell Tradition Fellowship

The Cornell Tradition Fellowship "I have always been in favour of combining labour and study." -Ezra Cornell, 1846

Representing just 4% of the Cornell undergraduate population, The Cornell Tradition Fellowshipis a contemporary expression of the founder's vision. The program awards approximately 500 fellowships each year to students who demonstrate significant work experience, campus and/or community service, and academic achievement. Through The Cornell Tradition, students make meaningful contributions to camp

us life that will enhance their own education and those of generations to come. At the same time, these students reduce their level of indebtedness incurred in obtaining a Cornell degree. True to the founder's ideals, the Tradition supports the development of fellows into well-rounded, productive members of society who will serve as the role models and leaders of tomorrow.

After months of planning, it all came together!

Since September, staff from The Cornell Commitment, Einhorn Center, and Cornell Dining have been working on the first-ever Student Employment Awards Ceremony—and on April 11th, they had the honor to celebrate and recognize 12 of the brightest among 2,500+ incredible student employees across the division, along with one truly outstanding supervisor.

Twelve Cornell students and one staff member earned awards for their exceptional contributions within Student and Campus Life.

"Being part of Tradition has given me a community that shares the intrinsic desire to feel gratitude from providing a service. Since I started volunteering in Ithaca, I've met incredible business owners, families, and employees I admire. I've formed meaningful friendships and gained invaluable lessons and experiences that will stay with me beyond my degree, shaping a tradition in my life and the lives of those I choose to surround myself with." ~Amanda Johnson, 2027 (CT)
