The Downtown Visitor Center inside the Tompkins Center for History & Culture is open Monday-Saturday. Visit Ithaca offers two full service visitor centers to help guide leisure and business travelers to local accommodations, restaurants and attractions. Visit Ithaca also has a sales department that works with meeting planners to bring conferences, meetings and groups to Tompkins County.

You’ll hear true stories of murder, jealousy, and insanity, pulled straight from The History Center’s archives, coming face to face with some of the most haunted items, and locations, across the city.

Did you know a beloved Stewart Park landmark celebrates the legacy of a renowed artist and ornithologist?🦢

The Fuertes Outlook, built in 1933 as a gift to the City of Ithaca from the Cayuga Bird Club, honors Louis Agassiz Fuertes, a famous ornithologist, illustrator and artist. Fuertes, who was born in Ithaca in 1874, was instrumental in preserving the Renwick Wildwood, also known as the Fuertes Bird Sanctuary in his honor.

The Fuertes Outlook structure overlooks the sanctuary and “swan pond” which was funded by the Cayuga Bird Club and constructed in 1928.
